Should you leave the unit on even when it's not in use?

Some pointers about this please. I read elsewhere people just leave it on forever.

there are plusses and minuses to doing it. by leaving it on you dont hit the caps with a surge everytime you turn it on (for me maybe 4 times a day?), just like all other audio gear.

but you also will burn out the screen faster by leaving it on. the s3000xl i used to own had a thing where you could turn off the screen which was great.

if the unit caught a surge, what would happen?

yeah, i'm more concerned with trying to not burn out my screen.

i didnt mean a surge like what happens in a thunderstorm (that can be dangerous even if something is turned off)

i meant the capacitors used to put the mpc together. they have a limited lifespan usually. with a mixer or a compressor or something like that, after a long time you need to replace the caps. turning something on or off a lot shortens the lifespan of the caps. or so i hear.. i havent had to recap anything, but then again none of my ish is all that old..

actually, that's not true i have a $2500 compressor sitting right here in need of some caps (the retard i bought it from was not too good to it)
