Does anyone know if when you sample 12bit on a 4000 does the sound quality "rock" like it does on a 60? As in is it comparable? Ta

So you do still get the same warmth, wholeness & grit in the bottom end?

i dont think that they can sound totally the same and the reason is 4k and 60 have totally different a\d converters.

i have tried to reduce bit resolution from 16 to 12 on my 2kxl and it doesnt sound the same as native 12 bit sampling on my s950.

that doesnt mean is useless, but it differs.

huh? this is news to me

with the 1000 i thought you could only load up 44.1 16bit sounds.. how do you get em to load up as 8bit sounds.. i mean ive thought about it, but never tried it. or would i take a an already 44.1 16bit sound, convert to 8bit.. and then convert back to 16bit? does that make sense? cause it doesnt to me.. and neither does what i just read.. lemme know somethin.. or better yet.. im about to run home after i finish my research and try this. **** writing a paper.. i can sample at 8bit.. kinda sorta ..? right on..

theorically that makes sense, because when u reconvert em to 16 bits u dont find again all the datas u have lost when u downgraded to 8 bits, so the sound must be more or less the same depending on the quality of the conversion...

does it makes sense? for me not that much but creativity is very subjective...
i'd say buy a game boy with nanoloop if ya want that sounds...

4000 ad/da and dither generator differ too much to be able to get the s950 mpc60 sound exactly, but if you know your engennering and/or have access to solid outboard, recreating even the sp1200 can be done on the 4k

Xampl: pitch shift a sample in trim at a low quiality and the 4k will add a little ring mod to the sound just like when you pitch shift on a sp1200 now if you have an analouge filter (nothing fancy, akais own mfc does the job) you can add the warthm just by running the signal though the filter... you can rebounch/resample as often as you want to get your desired sound..

I you can afford a 60 and/or a sp, then congrats! but if you think you can`t live without an sp or a 60 ..your losing focus on the main obdjectif: da music
