First Ever Problem!

Yo!

I can't believe it - my friend crashed my MPC 2000XL! I've had a couple of machines over the years, and hooked synths up to them with MIDI in series. No problem. Each one had a different midi channel and they were not in a LOOP.
Now, I've got just two synths - a Roland Juno 106, and a Dave Smith Evolver. The first on MIDI A - the second on MIDI B.
I was jamming with a buddy of mine - while recording - and he tweaked the knobs on the Juno. As soon as he raised the LFO slider on the Juno all the way up the MPC would crash! The pattern deleted, sequence gone, sequencer stopped! We just laughed because this guy is known for crashing EVERYTHING, but I was wondering if anyone had experienced anything else like this?

It could be the Juno is sending some sysex stuff that's confusing the hell out of the MPC. I've had this before with my Nord Modular. Just turn the Midi input filter on and set it not to pass sysex data.

yo boy, that there is ya problem, the mpc shat its pants. you need to enable the midi filter ( on the mpc's midi in ) when recording passes from the juno, other wise it is spitting loads of sysex at the mpc, and the little grey one cant handle all that garble.

That's a good tip. I would like to record slider movements on the Juno. The MPC does it very well except for LFO! Whoever thought a Roland could kill an Akai?
