mapping the MPC pads.

ive been using the MPC with Kompakt and the MPC pads dont map in the order of the notes on the keyboard. is there a quick way to change the mapping?

Load it up then just select this as a program when using midi channels, it has all the notes laid out in the correct order.

Or if you buy a midi keyboard they will me mapped properly.

Is there any reason why the pads are mapped out the way they are? It would be nice to be able to load up a program, say an autochromatic program, and play it on the keyboard. Is there any easy way to do this?

There's no reason. They are that way by default. Just work around it.

i tried that, but it is just way to random.

I thought I remembered somewhere that you could change the default settings somehow. Im thinking not coz I've looked everywhere. This should be an option for a future OS update.....

ive been thinking, hooking up a midi keyboard is all good, but you cant record the sequencer into the MPC can you????

You can record anything from the keyboard into the MPC. There was a bug where it would only record 64 notes (the ones corresponding to the pads) on OS 1.1 but this has been fixed and you can now record a full 8 octaves worth.

It's just an extension of the pads really

when setting the controller keyboard up with the mpc, do you connect the usb keyboard to the computer then the midi to the keyboard?

the best way would be to hook midi out of controller into midi in of MPC. It depends on what you are trying to do though. You could hook it up like you said but I'm not certain the computer will relay the info to the MPC in real time as you play it. I guess that would depend on the software.

i will be using my native instrument plug-ins as stand alones.

Mine is set up as

Keyboard midi out to MPC midi in

MPC midi out to sound card midi in

Keyboard USB to computer USB port.

This way the MPC transmits all midi data from the keyboard into the PC
