Have some questions: Prelistening Samples...

I own my MPC 2000 for a few days. So some questions came up.
But dont worry I´m reading the manual carefully.
I hope you can help me, and the questions arent that stupid
My English is really not the best, so I hope you can understand me.

1.)I want to know if there´s a way to prelisten to samples, before you press "do it" in the "disk" chapter.
Because if i want to find the fitting bassdrum I have to load every BD, press "play" and if I dont like it, do it again.
Is there any other way?

2.)Is it possible to go to the "trim" page while the song is playing? To adjust starting and ending point?
I have to press stop every time I want to go to that page or erase something or whatever.

3.)How can you totally stop all samples, and the whole song?
I had a MPC 1000 and there you had to press "Stop" twice, so everything stopped.
Is something comparable possible with the MPC 2000?

4.)Do I need the EB16 if i want to make a Lowcut on samples?
I have already found the filter and the resonance option. But this filter works as a Highcut, i think.

5.)Unfortunately i figured out, that the MPC2000 is not able to open folders.
So how do you arrange your harddisk, if you dont have folders with "Bassdrums" "Snares" etc. ?
If you have a lot of samples, you probably get really confused.
How do you proceed?

Nah, you can't do that on the 2000(XL) like you can on the 1000. You have to load the sample, then you can listen to it before assigning it to a pad by pressing PLAY once it has loaded.

Nah, can't do it. You don't have to press stop before going in TRIM mode. When you press Shift+5 the sequence will stop automatically.

Nah, all you can do to stop long samples etc is to go into the TRIM screen and then back into the Main screen... as mentioned above, that will stop all samples from playing. So basically, you gotta press 3 buttons instead of pressing the same button twice like you did on the 1000. Not too much harder.

The filter in the PROGRAM mode IS a 'highcut' filter, which is more commonly referred to as a lowpass filter. ie. it lets the bass get through and cuts out the higher frequencies. The EB16 effects board has a highpass filter as far as I know.

Not sure what 2000 users do. I have an XL.

Basically you have to create multiple partitions when you format your (hard)disk on the mpc 2000 and use these different partitions like folders.

Is it possible to do that with the MPC (making different partitions)?

Right now i´m looking for an external SCSI-harddisk.
Can you tell me, if there is any restriction (I hope this is the right word )?
Or can I use any kind of external SCSI-HD? Or does the capacity matter?
Maybe someone can suggest a brand and/or model?

with the mpc 2000 the capacity restrictions are around a couple of Gbytes. AFAIK. This partioning is explained in the manual and has to bedone on the mpc. I myself use a small (4.5 GB seagate harddisk (don't know what type though)

OK, so I know I can buy one with 4,5 GB. Thats good. (I wrote an email to the German akai support. The only thing they did was to give me a link to an expensive SCSI trader. They didnt answer my questions about the restrictions... ).
I will read the pages about partioning in the manual.

Do you know if its possible to connect the external SCSI-Drive to the PC, then put some samples on it an connect it back to the MPC and use these samples?

You see I´m new to this, and just wanna be sure that i´m not buying stuff which i can throw away afterwards, because it´s not working properly.
