Hello all new user here, and question for UK urban producers

Just got my MPC 1000. Never a had a MPC before. This ikle thing rocks. Even though I make my music using a DAW. The MPC is a great addition for making up beats, with ease. The pads are great. Sounds good and the timing is spot on.

Q1. Can u move a beat say a snare a few ticks back or forward in step edit ? Or do u have to delete it and re insert where u want it ?

Q2. Uk urban producers - I wanna send my music out - Any idea's where to send demo's to.

Where to send music all depends on what style/sound of music you got and narrowing it down to the peeps that would be interested in what you got

There are loads of places/people to send it to, they just have to be appropriate

Urban these days can mean anything....Reggae/Dncehall....R&B.....D&B
Hip Hop....Garage.But not everyone wants all or any of the above

As for your 1st question> It can be done......Its in the manual somewhere under something else (Some akai term)...Do a search tho I remember a long thread about how to do exactly what your asking

Well im making R&B and Hiphop tunes to be sung over. Only instrumentals at the mo. Is it best to send to publishers - maybe they might know of some singers. Im not having much luck down here finding singers hehe.

so from southhamtom...not too far from my end.

i live in Farnborough.

ime into Hip and RnB mixed with the indian touch too. i do the drums and my partner (as in music parnet) does the keyboard work.

yeah...the 1000's a nice drum tool...and its tight indeed.

as for your questions...

i bought the 1000 knowing that it did not have the shift timing function, but was assured by Akai UK that you can move events by ticks. its a pain though, but can be acheived. wished they had included the actual shift timing feature. just search the forum, you'll find the shifting topic.

Na got mine from Turnkey. Got the mpc last week. But bought a few bits from DV southampton. Pop in there quite alot to have listen.

So hows your music career coming on, released anything yet. Got any demo's on the net ?

I think ive sorted the shifting beats now ta.

me currently working with a team of producers who are based in peckham. they are called 'Urban Kings', and have a few tracks on some complilation albums like the one called 'urban fusion'. have also helped and worked with others, like Rishi (rishi rich), Rdb, Kami K, others. these are all UK asian producers.

yeah...as for my own tracks, ime taking a back seat at the moment, and seeing whos doing what and not. rishi's taken a back seat, so have the others i know...and so its a bit funny with the asian market at the moment.

they like hip hop, but dont want it on its own, especially if its done by asians...the UK asian market always want the mix element of the ethnic touch.

Also i wanted to ask you somethingby...have you managed to shift your snares backwards (as in earlier by a tick or 2)?

what other gear are you using to make music.

i have a logic audio setup (g4 mac) with the exs24 soft sampler.
Korg Triton, Proteus 1000, Roland XV5050, Mpc1000, Pioneer Cdj 1000's, etc.

i like to do things seperate...like drums on the mpc, then move to logic for the writing process.

Also i wanted to ask you somethingby...have you managed to shift your snares backwards (as in earlier by a tick or 2)?

its not that my stuffs out of time, i like to make things groove differently with out being spot on time.

as for Rishi, i and my brother have helped him quite alot in his start up days when he was doing a series of tape productions called '2 Kool', like with the remixing side, and helping him choose the right indian songs to sample. i have also done beat work for him (using Fruity...lol) for various of his album tracks.

by back seat...i mean to say...he's chillin at the moment...

he's actually collabing with a new guy called Raghav, at the moment...i have nothing to do with this.

ime helping these asian and black dudes at the moment in a Peckham based studio. they are releasing an album in march called 'Urban Kings'...with 1 track featuring my melody parts and drums.

man...right now...i have to get a whole demo album done for wednesday/thursday next week...i am being reviewed by a northen based production team called Ishq records.

hows things going for you at the moment...

he aint as busy as late 2003 though...trust me...

he's producing others as well...so his own stuff is going to be delayed.

i was wondering if you can be of some help...

basically have you or do you listen to any of the Neptune stuff.

if so, in particular the 'Show me you soul' tune...

i wanted to know how his bass drums are formed...

they are very like bangin and seem to have a very nice tone to them too.

any ideas???
