ok well first let me start with, yes i did a search and came up empty with any info or even people that had this problem....

so yes im new at this but from ALOT of reading and patience i am progressing pretty quickly....

any how, yesterday i made my first beat, finally figured all the "program" and "seq" basics to get a beat cooking...WELL......

after spending hours getting my first beat to actually sound pretty damn good...i go to save my program and just my f'in luck...it freeze's....

i had no choice but to shut it down and lose all my work....so im already pissed....and cant figure why it did it....thought hey maybe its just a freak accident wont happen again....WRONG!!!!

anytime i go to save a program now, it freeze's EVERYTIME!! what good is this damn thing if i cant even save my work???

FOR REF. I HAVE 1.21 installed...and someone said maybe i should try and go to an older OS 1.2 or something....

NOW ANOTHER PROBLEM COMES UP!!!

i go to load 1.2 on the cf card, then bring it to the mpc, hold window on startup and it gives me this warning box "WRONG CARD"...and doesnt load the 1.2

so now im like wtf?? let me go back and try to re-flash 1.21 then see if for some reason something happened....so i delete 1.2 from my Cf card and added 1.21, hit window on load up...and baaam "WRONG CARD" AGAIN!!!

and that leaves me lost, i didnt try 1.0 because i figured that was going back way to far....and i myte end up with more bugs then i started with....

Can any one help me??? PLLLLLEEEEASE!! i feel like i dont even want to work on it anymore if my material i spend hours on is not even going to be able to be saved...

sorry for typing so long but i wanted to give all details....last quick question i have and the only thing i can think of is...do you need to have the .bin file in your root directory even once its installed...because once i installed it the first time i deleted the .bin file off my cf card....other then that i knwo im doing everything right....what gives??

any one please???

This happened to me for the first time ever, also using 1.21. Doint know what happened but i used the same method that i'd been using on all the previous OSs

i love it how people can be making "their first beat" and something goes wrong and they blame it on the machine.

Oh, so you think it's ok for the machine to crash when you want to save your beat?

hahah exactly??? who am i supposed to blame??? MYSELF??? oh ok i guess its my fault the things crash's everytime i go to save it....hahah thats cute????

you must be an official Akai salesmen...lmao...WOW!!

you gave me a hell of a laugh anyhow...glad something came out of it....cause it sure wasnt a saved beat...i'll tell you that....

and thanks fastracker i have not tried that at this point its worth a shot....but i wonder which OS i should reload you know...so i put 1.21 back IF it will load it and then i myte be right back where im at now....

im really so close to selling this thing and gettin a 1 or 2k from what i hear they are much more reliable and well if this is a sign of whats to come from the 2500 i wont be a very satisfied customer....

i love the look, features and everything about the 2500 and i hear alot of good can come down the road but shit...by that time i could have mastered a 2000 ya kno....

*scratches head and goes in a corner to sob*

do you have a harddrive installed? my 2500 has never crashed when i tried to save but i don't have a harddrive i just use a compact flash card. if you're using a one of those maybe that's corrupt. otherwise you should return it and get a new one.

I had (until something else pops up) problems with my 2500 restarting I had a seagate 100gig HD w/ 128mem card and the CD Burner but when I took out the HD and put in the recomended HD I didnt have any problems (not yet). But I also took all out the Memory/Burner/HD (even blew on it like a old nintindo cartridge) and reseated everything and reinstalled the OS too, so far no problems so I'm crossing my fingers that was the trick (4 days & counting).

Hope this helps

I wish I could help you guys. But I have had my 2500 since November of last year and honestly, the only problem I have ever had with it was the SYSTEM TEST error and that only happened the day the new OS was released (go figure). Other than that, I have been working loads on my machine with absolutely no probs.

K-boogie...

Yea i have a HD installed aswell as the upgraded memory and i also purchased a cf card....

as far as HD im using a toshiba 100GB and im using a 256mb kingston ram....i read a thread and it was about 5-6 pages long and i went through all pages and based on the majority going with those 2 things and saying they had no problems at all...i purchased them...

i may have to try and take out the hd and see what happens....BUT the thing that bugs me out about the situation is that....i am NOT trying to use the HD...i am trying to save it to the cf card...and it freeze's and i have tried playing around making small quick pgms to see what happens...and i can sit here and bang out a beat all day long and have no problems...but the second i go to SAVE booooom freeze's up....i havent had any problems except this.....but i mean if i cant save my work...then i mean...what good is speding hours to make something just to shut it off and lose everything....

THEN....

i thought i could be slick, and run it to my comp and then just record the takes into software and then edit them there...but albe damned if it aint my luck....i can NOT figure out for anything how to make my pc recognize the direct sound coming from my mpc.....so that i can record it...

i am so lost at this point its not even funny...all i know is at this point its been a 2 thousand dollar headache since i opened the box...

taxman806,

You must have not been using MIDI or editing samples, because these have been major issues with the previous operating systems.

Do you have 1/4" inputs on ur comp? RCA inputs? 1/8 inputs?

I have a standard sound card. I have a Y cable that goes from comp (mic in) to rca stereo outs to 1/4 adapter. Then record with ur fav software. maybe ur mic in is muted.

dont trip all the mpcs had problems at first. If you understand that going in to purchasing an MPC 2500 it makes some of the annoying shit that happens less of a shock.

Harry,

Clear the actual 32 meg card that (hopfully) came with your machine, load just the os file on it and proceed with holding window apon power up.

Had the same problem and this worked for me.

Also: go with the latest os.

respect mbs....

yea i currently have a delta 44 soundcard connected to my comp...and i have no problems recording from my mic....but the mpc is not sending any signal...is there sometype of setting you need to put on the mpc to send to the comp?

i tried running a 1/4 to 1/4 from the output of the mpc "A" and ran it to my input of my soundcard and no luck...the delta only has 1/4 inch ins and outs...no rca's or anything....i really dont see why it wouldnt pick up the sound and let me just record it direct through software...

and yea the "shock" was not expected...i purchased it thinking it was a plug and play typr of sinerio.....i didnt even think how they could release a peice of machinery with so many known problems....i figured for a couple grand it would be set to go...no worries, no problems...its been the exact opposite....starting to think maybe i should of grabbed the 1 or 2k....i hear they have no problems....i hate to spend so much money on equipment that i figured would zoooom up the creative process....shit i myte aswell just stayed software based...atleast i never had any problems there...

King Vitamin...

i dont understand why my 1gb cf card would be any different then the 32 akai demo cf card...why would it read data any different....

but if you say you had the SAME problem and that worked for you, i will give it a shot what do i have to lose other then, well another beat lmao...

i will cross my fingers, but i would still like to learn how to get it running to the comp because when i start making the beats and then want to record vocals it would be nice to have everything loaded and mix the whole track beat/vocals....

thanks for all the help and tips looks like i have another evening of testing and hoping...much appreciated fellas....
