Frustration- "wrong file"

Ok for a while now I've been trying to organize the 1000s of samples Ive found on the net. But a few things have gotten in my way (mostly thanks to my ignorance)- 1st I had the files and programs in the wrong folders Next Most of the files were over 16 characters so they wouldnt transfer over to the mpc. so I edited those
but now after fixing those files and making new programs I'm getting "Wrong File" error. These are wavs 16 bit 44.1 khz im pretty sure- it seems like it should be a simple fix

what you should do is make sure they're mpc standard files
pop em up into sound forge or something and save em over themselves as 16 bit 44.1 khz. then load em up, see if that works

the better option is to just sample em in through spdif if you have the option. that way no loading/cf card is necessary.

i get the same thing when i use samples i save in Cool Edit

i just open them in Audacity and "Export As WAV" and save them again, and then they work fine in the mpc

Save as 44khz 16bit with no extra information/metadata in the wave file.

This option for extra information is in alot of wave editors, don't use it when saving as wave or you'll endup getting an error in your mpc even though the khz and bit rates are correct.

Don't save the extra data ie, name, pictures, copyright info with your wave file, loop points in a wave are cool on most wave editors. 2k, 2kxl, 1k, 4k, all of them recognize the loop points. I don't know about the other mpc's I haven't tried that out on them.

I do get the same problem sometimes and it drives me crazy. I create a new beat, load some samples, do my thing, save everything and shut the mpc down. Next time I open up the program file it says "file not found". The funny thing about it is, that I've could load the same sample when it was the first time I've created the beat. But then, when I try to load it again for the second time, it won't work. Most of the time this "broken sample" comes from cool edit or from Reason sound libaries...Its focked up!

This same thing has been happening to me as well with the "wrong file" error. What I think the problem was for me was when I hooked up my usb to the CP and put the files into the folder by computer it will give you the "wrong file" message.

I created the folder on the computer and moved the files in that created folder. This did not mess up my files only my Program.

So I decided to create the folder with the MPC and everything worked fine for me so far.
