hmm.. interesting comments guys.
haha.. but half the shit I don't understand cus everyone here talks in computer lingo.
I have like.. 20,000 mp3s on my comp.. and not many records.. I'm not a crate digger and I'm not after that jazz/hiphop sound.. I'm more into sampling new school shit by contemporary composers.
though..
I hate computers as well. I prefer hands on.. but I think for this case I prefer the computer.. and it's kind of hands-on as well.. cus I'm cutting/copying/pasting/repeating sequences of sound waves. So it's pretty fun actually.
also, i always just leave my computer on.. i feel it's much easier to get the timing right when arranging samples visually and auditorilly.. audially.. on the computer (damit my brain is dead right now and can't remember how to spell the word.. I'm probably not even using the right word)
another thing is.. I have a lot more storage on my comp (500 gb external compared to an annoying 32 mb on mpc)... and i have all of my songs on there.. if i wanna sample something I just open it as a wav.
(oh yea.. I heard you can put a computer harddrive inside an mpc1000?)
so now I wonder what use I have for the mpc... was it worth $860 just for the drum machine itself + sequencer? I know i'm gonna need something for making drum tracks.. is the mpc the best or should I get a keyboard?
I find that a simple program like audacity offers more effects.. or maybe I haven't yet grasped the true possibilities of the mpc.
btw, is there a program like audacity but better?
(I only need it for sampling.. and basic effects like time stretch & reverse. It just seems kinda funny that I'm using a free program to do my sampling.. so I'm wondering if there's a better program for sampling)
