How to do this... HELP!

How do you set up your PC to where it records whatever is playing on your computer... I used to have it like that on my computer, so I could sample anything playing on my computer onto my DAW, but I turned it off like a dummy, and forgot how to turn it back on, so help me out...

Try playing around in the windows mixer (if you have windows).

i would have said connect soundcard out > soundcard in, but im not sure i understand your question.

No, it has something to do with the settings, not the sound card... Im recording the samples with adobe audition, and what im trying to do ( Ive done it before ) Is make it to where adobe tracks whatever the computer is playing... It makes it possible to sample from DVD's, ETC... In fact I recently made a beat with a Munich sample in it.

No it's niether of those, besides I dont have my computer... Right now im @ the library, cause my Mobo fried ( Damn Sony )

ctrl panel--->speech--->audio input--->properties--->"use this audio input line"--->stereo mix

for those who don't know, this allows you to record any sound coming out of your comp speakers into audacity or whatever you usin to record. mp3s, wavs, audio from videos, whatever.

If you are using widows>>>double click the small grey speaker in your system tray(bottom right) goto file properties(I think) then click the recording bullet(lil circle) and hit ok then all the sliders will be your recording input options(i.e. mic, line etc.) If you choose the check box under stereo mix you can go in any recording program and hit record then hit play and whatever is coming out of your soundcard will be recorded even streaming internet audio or whatever.

thats what i thought at first but when i click on the speaker icon, there is no menu to click properties from. i think people would be better off following the instructions i provided.

Are you double clicking or just clicking?
As far as I know every version of windows has that menu there if you double click on the speaker.

double clicking. sliders are there but no menu, file, or properties
