While you're making a beat...

..you leave some bars with the drum loop playing alone?? I used to do that sometimes especially with some drum fills but i'll never do that again!! There are many lazy ba$tards out there who're looking forward to sample assorted kicks,snares etc. from other people's beats.I mean,i used to do that in the past but i have (finally) my own sound library and i don't have to listen to a cd and have my ears oppened if a snare is "free" for sampling! This situation pisses me off! Hope you'll understand.

Nothing wrong with that......Its a sorta double standards arguement. If its your drum loop then you'l be pissed but if for example its a Kanye one then your ears are up coz you hear something you like and wouldn't mind it in your collection - Its not a lazy thing.

Its what you do with the samples that determines whether you were lazy or not

What are you talking about. What's lazy about sampling an open drum sound. That is really what the sampler is for. Drum sounds really come a dime a dozen ( literally ) Why would you think someone was a lazy ba$tard for using their machine for what it was intended. I know you did'nt think that the sound/sample disk that came with the MPC and the ones sold by other companies were the way you supposed to get sounds and if you took one from a song you were stealing lol, WTF

Where do you think these sound librarys come from? I have several discs full of sounds that I can tell were choped out of some mix, at some time. Also, if you are just pulling out single instrument, what difference does it make?

well lecter thats what i do to get my drum samples....still means iu have to layer, mix process, eq and compress but if something has the rough sound i want ill nick it......

man, sampling drums is part of the art of hip hop...all your favorite producers sampled there drums, i dont get it?? are you saying that peeps should buy drum sample cds? rather then sampling the drums yourself? i know some ppl can agree, when you find a track with some hot drum samples, its fun to sample them...i mean, the MPC IS a sampler

im trying to work out where he gets his drums from i mean do you have 10-15 different kits with all manner of microphones, rack gear and a acoustic room to record them in? if i had i guess i wouldn't sample drums either but i don't.....

well, I think any good producer probably gets drums more by sampling records than buying sample CD's. What's lazier, buying a sample CD where all the work is done for you, or digging through music for drum sounds?

I agree with most of you and i think you misunderstood me.I think though that you can find a funk/rock/soul drum loop and chop the drum sounds that you want and not sample other sounds from hip-hop tracks because many producers out there doin' real diggin' and they spent time and money for they beats.I'm not saying that you must buy sample cds for drums!!! I'm sayin' that you must search breaks and stuff to find them and not hip-hop songs!

I use samples from anything and everything I get my hands on. Whatever soudns good I'll sample and from whatever source it doesn't matter to me. I've done all type of sampling in.. Live, instruments, video games, TV, DVD's, CD's, Vinyl, ANYTHING is fair game if it fits my vision.

I use the sampler for what it's for, to sample. My MPC is not prejudice.

I feel that.I'm not the one who'll talking about what is right or what is wrong,i just place my opinion on this topic and i really appreaciate all replies.We're here to discuss and exchanging ideas.Peace
