Monitors - Event/Mackie/KRK?

I'm tryna get some real good monitors. i been lookin around and i'm probably buying one of these

event studio precision 8's

mackie hr824's

krk v8's


do anybody in here got any of these? i need advice right here
what would yall recommend me

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the moniters you are considering. I recently comparison shopped powered moniters in this price range and found the Dynaudio BM5A to be the best in my opinion. Followed by the Event ASP8, KRK V8 and finally the Mackies. I really wanted to like the Events more but every time I switched back to the Dynaudios it was just undeniable. Honestly, it's taken me three seperate side by side listenings to make up my mind. It's a lot of money (for me at least) and a critical part of your music making process. Everyone here is gonna tell you to take a few of your favorite CDs to your local music store and spend some time comparing them. If you are checking out $1000+ moniters, you'd be doing yourself a diservice by not checking out the Dynaudios. They are not 8s like your other picks but the bass response is unbelievable. They will surprise you. But like I said before, they are all good speakers. Listen and decide for yourself. Good luck. Peace

Only thing i've been advised about the Dynaudios is that you need a fair bit of space behind the speakers due to the rear facing ports. If they're too close to a wall it will mess up the frequencies or something?

Is there a workaround to this if you cant move them more than 6" from the nearest wall, like putting some acoustic material on the wall behind them?

According to that link above quite a few people prefer the Dynaudios to the Mackies!

Anyone know about the rear facing ports then?

It's a concern to me as i was thinking of getting these

My BM5As just came in today! I'm hooking them up right now so I'll let you know how they work out. Unfortunately my studio space is pretty small so I am forced to have my moniters close to the wall. Their website and owners manual say that they can be positioned close to a wall if the bass cut/boost is set to cut -2dB. There are also Mid filter and Hi filter switches on the back that you can EQ the speaker with. I'll mess with the settings and report back.

Man, these things are amazing. I can here everything. Even at low volumes every little nuance is there. Smoothe and full. I have the LF switch set to -2dB and everything else set flat. I could'nt be happier with these Dynaudios. Highly recommended. Spirez, man you won't be disapointed.

Sounds good! Could you take a pic of your setup to show how close to the wall they are if poss please?

I'm gonna have to test tham against the Mackies myself but i reckon these are the way to go, especially for the price.

Still, i want to test out those new Adam A7s too.

they're great for throwing through windows, firewood or .... urmm cant think of anything else they are good for.

if you want a budget monitor, i'd save up a little extra for fostex pm1's, or event tr6's.
