lol reminds me of the simpsons episode where homer's too fat to go to work, so works at home and gets a remote workstation installed and has to press 'Y' all day, so gets the 'drinking bird' toy to do it for him! heh heh.

its the first thing i searched for. adsr (pos and neg)

i played with this for a couple of minute and i'm impressed. can't wait to see the final os this gentlemen will make.

i'd like to insert CC's in the grid mode..possible?

being able to see in one glance the entire program is genius

is the "move bug' fixed?

is there a way to hear the sample in the event window in the grid mode?

ok, so suppose you cant reinstall the old os, say the new os doesnt recognise the procedure to load the old os?

oh yeah forgot to ask - do you have to format the hard drive when you install the new os?

Hello,

I think some folks have already gone back and forth between 2.1 and 3.0 Beta (someone above mentioned that they couldn't live with 3 until the old slicing option reappears), so that shouldn't be a concern.

As for reformatting the HD, I don't know. I've used my same CF cards, and they did not require reformatting, so I would guess that the HD would not either.

unloop wrote:nym is that 1 change the only difference in grid edit? As far as use goes anyway im not worried about cosmetic differences obviously.

There are lots of little suggestions id like to throw out there for open source os (as im sure you ve all got too) but as has been said elsewhere its a bit early for that yet.

The main exciting thing for me is that its happening at all. I know of no other 3rd party os for any music gear. Correct me if anyone knows im wrong because im very interested ........

one question that occurs to me. Is this going to start happening to other bits of gear now that they re all so much more pc like than bespoke or is this all just down to akai tieing one hand and leg behind the 1ks back so it would sit down and behave in their range?

Will be keenly watching to see what happens with the 2500, but this makes what was once a very sound in sound out bit of kit much more interesting.

ps. just one thing in terms of suggestions i cant keep quiet about... pitch mod envelopes. PLEASE!

The Ensoniq Mirage had 3rd party OS's. So does the Linn 9000.

yes ive changed back for now. I need that old slice option. I just dont want this particular peak detection version ..not even as an option personaly. It tends to be great for time and a bit rubbish for accuracy anyway.

Also i did assume at first when i fiddled with 3.0 before going out ealier that control changes, pitch info etc would be in grid too.
If its just note on data then its still useful. It still shows a little more on screen at once than step edit but is much less useful this way than it would be with a few options. Also 64th notes would be useful to me.

"The Ensoniq Mirage had 3rd party OS's. So does the Linn 9000."

Thanks. I was searching my brain for examples. It occured to me that the eps16 and asr10 had extra effects/filter programs released by third partys.

I think those (my examples) were late on and discontinued though, i remember id had my then 2nd hand ensoniq gear a long time when they came out. Do you know if thats the case on the 9000?

ok

let's not turn this into a "can we have" yet.
first of all, all we need is the features of 2.1 (including the old chopping method in addition to the new), the features of 3.0, and no bugs.

we are NOT going to start asking this poor guy for new features until he gives us a working os.

let's not make the same mistakes as akai.

bug free first.
that's all we need for now.
