I dont have an MBox but it doesnt have any midi capabilities also you should be able to use it with WinXP what os do you have?
If you dont have XP I think if your machine meets the mininum req. it would be easier to upgrade to XP than to get a brand new MAC

Features:

2 analog inputs and outputs featuring Focusrite mic preamps
24-bit stereo S/PDIF I/O
Pristine 24-bit signal path from input-to-output
2 analog TRS inserts
Headphone output with dedicated volume control
Zero-latency monitoring
100% USB powered
Pro Tools LE software
Drivers for Mac and Windows XP

I just have it hooked to my Audigy 2 Platinum, since Im using reasons synths and soundfonts for sounds, I dont have the need for that many ins and outs, I will be getting the 8 outs board soon being that I have a mixer thats only being used for vocals at the moment and a sound card with multiple ins so I can really multitrack. depending on your budget you should really consider getting the 8 outs board if you dont already have it.
