mpc2500 may be next for a 3rd party os

I don't have either a 1k or 25k, but is still plan to spend the extra cash on the 25k....Part of me is saying why not just get the 1k if u can get most of the features now with the new os, but i know if i do get a 1k, i'll always be like why didn't i just save up and get the other features the 25k has...i plan to get a 25k cause i want it to be the only mpc i own and not be one that holds me over until i get more money to upgrade to a higher model....sure right away i might not need all the outputs and shit like that, but down the road i most likely will....and if akai makes new OS's with more features, then the 1k will go back to being just an entry level mpc...really the only thing that worries me now are the current bugs the 25k has now...i just hope akai realize that there are still bugs and get them fixed fast

real pads - i can see that, but only if you've owned an mpc before the 1000. otherwise, modded 1000 pads are fine to new mpc users, as i was when i got my 1000.

additional outs - totally.

interface - i dunno, i've only worked with the 1000 and i've gotta say i don't feel cramped or impeded at ALL with the window function. again - if you're moving from another mpc, totally. if not, nah, not a big deal.

entry level mpc - only due to price. the features of the 1000 negate any concept of "entry level" at this point, since even the 1000 has more features now than the xl.

but as always, features don't equal skill. skill equals skill.

but hardware is hardware. if you've got the money, got the space, need the extra hardware, and more importantly the time to wait for additional functions, get thje 2500. it won't disappoint by the time it's fully developed.

essentially, everyone today is a beta tester - 1000 and 2500. 2500 people because akai dropped it too soon. 1000 people because of 3rd party os's.

honestly, the MOST we can hope is that we are ALWAYS beta testers of sorts - because it means that the machines we are using are still evolving. nothing is ever perfect, there's ALWAYS room for improvement. for example, if someone gave the 2000 grid edit, etc. you know?

hang tight. make the right decision based on your need. no one machine is better than another - you've just got to know what you want and what you need.

Excuse me for laughing Again..why would I care if the MPC 1000 has the exact same OS as the 2500? I really don't care. Yes, I spent at least $600 more than you on my MPC. What's the big deal? I spent more than going to the club last week....but let me ease up off of you guys. I know you are broke kids that spend your newpaper route money to get your MPC. Enjoy it and what ever new feature may come your way...

Wow J. Please tell me you were just joking because thats kind of rude to say that even if it's true, I mean this is meant to be an informative forum isnt it? I have a lot of respect for you because I see you as a fair dude but to knock someone around about what they can afford is kinda rough dog. I didnt think that this is what this forum is about. Bad day mabe or are you really that arrogant?

None the less if not anything you have to admitt that this IS interesting and should be reported as you probably would if it happened for the 2500. I feel you though mabe I just taking it out of context because its kinda hard SOMETIMES to read peoples intent behind words .

Please excuse me if I'm wrong or if you feel Im out of line I just wanted to know how to take that if not at all. Of course no real harm done.

This is true of anything high tech. I've used Logic since version 2, it's up to version 7.x and is still very buggy and crashes daily. I use Protools 6.x since version 3 and it still crashes or loses and corrupts files and still doesn't work well with OMF, which they (AVID) created.

I haven't had problems with my 2500 and the problems I've had with my 4000 have been minimal. To think that something as complicated as a dedicated piece of hardware from a small company, which is probably still trying to dig themselves out of the hole the old owers dug, will be totally bug free is just wishful thinking.
Any gear you get from any company these days is beta. That's the fact, deal with it or go play something like bongos that are low tech. I'm just glad Akai is still around because they are the only ones left trying to build pro drum machines and I hate doing drum programming in Logic!

I wish the reality was different but it's not so I make my music, get paid, and buy the updates.

You guys are as bad as me..talking about an MPC 1000 in the MPC 2500 forum

It was just a joke about the cheap MPC 1000...but for real at the same time. I still don't care what features are added to the MPC 1000. (there is another forum for that ) But feel free to post whatever. I just love to joke from time to time. Lighten up.
