instruments cutting off or not playing at all

ok...I just purchased an mpc1k and i'm not too familiar with it...so here's my proble...i would do your normal 2 track song just to get the hang of this thing...1 track i throw my drums and the 2nd track a guitar string...i also start with a 2bar loop...so i'll lay down my drum tracks and during play back it sounds fine...then i'll lay down the guitar strings and as i'm recording it, it sounds fine...but once it starts to loop a couple things would cut off and some of the instruments wont play at certain points....i'd go back to step edit just to check if its there and if its on the right count...IT IS...ANYONE GOT ANY IDEA?

so once i expand my ram i should be good? cuz its brand new with 16mb...

Polyhony and RAM is not related.

Expand your ram if you need to load and keep more samples available to work with, and having a bit more RAM than you need to use is better than having a little less.

The polyphony is the number of "voices", that means notes/samples, that can be played simultaneus. On the MPC 1000 it´s max 32 voices if all your samples are mono or max 16 voices if all your samples are stereo. If you mix mono and stereo samples you have to do the calculation yourself.
This limitation is set by the processing power of the unit itself and/or OS, so this is nothing you can upgrade or change on the MPC 1000.
If it is a polyphony problem, work through your samples and see which are in stereo but would sound as good, or better in many cases, in mono. Resample them or dump them in an audio editor and resave them as monos and you´ll be good to go for a while longer.
