recording

I just bought an m-audio uno cable. it converts midi into usb. and i was wondering how am i supposed to record with this. it just recognizes the mpc as a controller. and i want to record my shit from my mpc to my comp.

Well, you now have the ability to bring MIDI signal from the MPC to your PC or, I guess, vice-versa


question is, what do you want to do with that? What software are you using?

y aneed a program to read it so it playts.. for example.. fruity loops, pro tools, reason, live lite 5... ya can just get the free downloads if ya wanna try them out then buy them.... but i doubt ya can just record the beat using sound record.. idk but give it a try.... well ill give you a link to download pro tools... its a good program...

then ya can record almost anything that you can hook up to the uno cable... with midi... i almost bought that but i bought the whole enchalada.....lol.... m-audio firewire 1814... its great for production..
i use it with pro tools m pwered 7.1

Correct me if I'm wrong...but you cannot record neither via MIDI nor via USB with the MPC. No matter which cable or software you use.

What you can do with the cable is hook the MPC up to a MIDI interface which has USB-MIDI ports.

What you bought doesn't transfer audio through midi or usb, in fact, no kind of audio travels through midi. What you need to record audio into your computer are 1/4" stereo plugs to a 3.5mm stereo jack (or corresponding input if you have an audio card).
