sound/program files dissapearing on my 1000!

hey there

i've been very happily using the mpc1000 since it came out.
in the last few weeks, however, it has started to act strangely. to be honest, i'm not entirely sure what is going on, but files (i.e. sounds and programs) are occasionally erasing themselves from either the RAM or the CF disc. so i will be working on the mpc, turn it off, and later turn it back on and certain files will be gone. it seems like they are usually erasing in alphabetical order - like all files with names from Ap to Be or something. so sound files have a ? mark in front of them if a program can't find them. however, if i don't save anything at this point and turn the mpc off and back on, it seems that the sounds are still there.

i am guessing that it relates to triming sample lengths or some other editing procedure, but i can't figure it out yet.

i'm going to do more tinkering but i'm just curious if this has happened to anyone else on the forum. i am still using os 1.02, as i don't really keep up with updates unless i'm having a problem. i'm not sure why it has started to do this now, maybe the card is old?

any thoughts on this one?

I see that you deserve your name.

I feel the outmost respect to those who don´t run head over heels into the update ratrace of today, but in all honesty I think it´s time for an update. Doubt anone else on the forums runs such an old OS or remember specific problems with it.
