Fuxored 60II LCD

So I was attempting to install a new backlight on my 60II and didn't read the instructions. I went ahead and opened the actual LCD when I should have just slid out the old backlight. Now my display is showing nothing at all. Am I totally screwed or is there some way I can get this thing working again?

Can you buy replacment LCD's for the 60 these days?

I have an email into VST to see if they can assist but figured I'd check with you guys while I wait for a response.

you should be ok you've prolly just misaligned it ?

I pretty much have it set up the way it looked before but can't get any text to display. There is a ribbon looking thing at the back that isn't connected to the circuit board that I suspect is responsible for my issue. Not sure how to get it to line up without some kind of adhesive.

Thanks for the reponses guys. Not much to take a pic of actually. It's just a blue screen with nothing else. Basically the backlight is working but the LCD isn't showing any text ...

I meant of the "ribbon looking thing". Anyway take a look at hire's pdf in the faq it might help you out.

i'll check it out. it's the ribbon looking thing that is between the LCD and the circuit board. Hopefully VST will get back to me in the morning.

Spoke with Forat ... He's going to try to fix the LCD for me.

probably a contrast problem..?

make sure u didnt rip one of the wires loose on the contrast knob when you removed the cover.

ahh yes good to see the phlix are helpful

All the wires are still attached to the contrast knob and my LCD went out to Forat yesterday. Let's hope it's quick fix.

ahhh man i hate to say it but i did the same thing i have 2 mpc 60II
and one backlight was brighter than the other took them both out like your susposed to and ......
damn I shoud have left them as they were send it off to VST but infact
best thing i ever did yeah it cost dough but gotta have it tiptop insead of a 12bit pieace of ....
so it 65 bucks but they charge like 60 per hour ..enless you have a O-scope and can check everything out yourself or something send it to them before you pull a wire out or something man peace!

VST they told me the can't fix LCD screens once they are damaged. Apparently they are able to install a 3000 screen in the 60II using some kind of adapter. Not sure i'm looking to do that. We'll see if Forat comes through for me. The screen should be there tomorrow.

I replaced the backlight on my S-950 & it's looking brand new. Pretty sick.

As long as you did not crack the LCD screen it should be ok. You have to make sure you reassemble the display correctly. There is a metal plate that secures the screen to the circuit board. This metal plate has tabs that get bent over the board and that holds the display down on the board. You have to make sure the display is correctly aligned to the board and then secure the metal plate (which can only go on one way). I have seen the display assembled backwards and installed with no dsplay when you power it up. I bet that is the problem. If not it could be the display memory or some related problem.

The LCD sure wasn't cracked... It seemed to be assembled correctly, not sure about the allignment. There wasn't much wiggle room. I tried pushing around the top with the corners only attached but it didn't seem to do much. I'd get the ocassional splash of a line across the screen. Seemed like the connector inside wasn't properly touching the circuit board to allow the graphics to display.
