How to record when hitting a pad?

Im not use to using counts when i record. When I used to use fl studio i could record right when I hit a key. Basically it would wait for me to start recording. How do I set it up on the mp? Thanks

the feature your talking about is called "wait for note", and the MPC does not have it, although there probably is a way to rig it.

Not exactly the same, but it might work for you:

hit "play start" and "overdub" and the key at the same time

Good looking out dubnov. For some real answers. Just so ya know Im a musician, and counts isnt anything else but waiting. Wait for note. Is to play right when you want. Counts is for beginners where they have to hear a metronome then begin perform like he's learning the piano. But thanks.

so i suppose the last time you played in a band you just set your bass player to 'wait for note' mode and he started playing right on the downbeat?? that's awesome man, i wish my bass player could do that. i guess he's not a real musician like you...

why not just say; no, sorry the mpc doesn't do that.

I mean what the hell is ya even talkin about. Wait for note. IS basically just the mpc waiting for you. So obviously you can start now. While the guy next to me has to wait 4 counts to freaking record. Whos quicker and more hungry to record. Not this guy. My apologies if the way I work is too quick for ya. Atleast two guys understand how to be humble and answer a question properly. Damm
