Problems with Compact Flash 2gb

I'm not sure why man. Maybe someone with more knowledge will see this and know what the 'D29C' error means.

The only thing I could suggest would be to check the OS version (I know you said you have 1.20).
I noticed from your first photo that you have a blue XL (MCD)... So that means that your MPC should have shipped with 1.20 installed from factory anyway. Also, you could try downloading a copy of the OS from the AkaiPro website and reinstalling it.
If that doesn't work then I'd say it could be a problem with the card itself.

It'd be good to know what that error means!

Note that in the top right-hand corner of the screen, the MPC actually DOES recognise that the card is 2GB.

Krux, I have unloaded the operative system of akaipro.com and have installed it in the MPC.
I have formatted the CF of 2gb and it(he,she) has done it without any problem.
Ultimately we have obtained it

It(He,She) goes, it(he,she) was promising them to me very happy.
In spite of the fact that it works, on having formatted the card, the alone mpc formats 1gb.
Other one leaves it without formatting and when I am going to record something (with the card newly formatted) only it(he,she) is 1gb it(he,she) frees.

Yep, you are right. I didn't notice it before, but the MPC formats the card into a single 1GB partition.

Whats even more annoying is that Windows XP doesn't even recognise the full 2GB either.

Well, at least I can use the CF. Even having lost 1gb it(he,she) goes out for me profitably since the card buys her(it) for ebay and it(he,she) cost me very cheap. Thank you.

So would a 1gb CF card work for the MPC 2000?

After going thru some of the same problems myself with a 2GB Card... I spoke with the good ole folks at Akai Pro. and their Tech Support advised me that a 1GB Card is the biggest that it can read. Which i figured, because when i formatted my 2GB Card, it turns my card into a 1048MB Card(which is seen on the MPC or better known as 1GB). Even if i try to format it back on the computer in Windows XP, all i see is a 1GB Card. Maybe the card can be Partitioned, if so, i dont know how, and the guy at Akai didnt tell me if so or not, maybe because he didnt want me to try it. But thats what i found out.

I have an MPC and I have used a number of 2GB disk (to many types and names to call it) Here is what you have to keep in mind, do the format on the computer. My MPC will not format a 2GB Drive, but it will read the drive and allow me to save to it if I do it on my Computer. Also keep in mind, that if you are working with Windows 2000, XP and now Vista they format in NTFS, and this will not read on the MPC, you must format in FAT. Now here is the killer. Most new computer will not format a drive over 850MB in FAT using Windows. It has something to do with the BIOS (just as older computers can not read drive over 1.5GB). So how do you do it...

I think this might be the command but you might want to look it up.

Format X: /FAT

But I might be wrong with that. It has been sometime Search the web for format from the command line.
I know it seems like a lot, but I had to do the same thing with a friends MPC. It has more to do with the drive you have.

The good old boys from Akai strike again! The max the MPC can read is 4GB.

I have a 9.5 Drive (I know it is a waste but it works) that I got from this company and it works up to 4GB fine on my MPC.

With my background being in computers I understand most of the issue people are seeing have to do with the changes in the OS and the Formats they use when working with the drives.

No the MPC will not READ A NTFS Formated disk, so when you put it in your computer and just click format, that is not going to work. I will always try to format a big disk as NTFS. More so if is shows up as a Removeable USB Device. You need go back to the old...old...old school and format the drive using DOS. This should work. If not, something is wrong with the card.

I dont know how many 2GB cards I have and they all work. As well as a 9.5 GB (only able to read 4GB) SCSI Drive. So I dont know what more I can say on it. But I know it works for me. But then again, I have the hottest MPC on the face of the earth so it is not much my baby wont do for daddy (And he got jokes).

FOR REAL IVE BEEN SAYIN THIS TILL IM BLUE IN THE FACE. SANDISK WONT WORK BELIEVE ME I TRIED WITH A NONE BRANDS AND GOT MY SH@#@ HANDED TO ME ITS SOMTHIN THE CARD READERS OR THE OS. 1.20 WORKS WELL FOR 1GIG AND UP FOR ME 1.14 OS 32 64 128 256 512 NO PROB . I have a question about my Akai Mpc2000XL that I have just bought and I am wondering if my question is related to the problems that these posts have been about.

My problem is that I am using a 1 GB SD card and after I programmed 9 drums with wav. files the screen says that there is not evough memory to load any more pads. There are 16 pads and 4 banks so I don't understand why this would happen. Is there a chance that I don't have 32 Megs of Ram? I was told when I bought it there was. If I knew how to, could I take the 16 Meg card of my Akai 2000 sampler?

Thanks. I almost thought that I could start using my drum machine until this happened. I hope that someone can show me how to make it work.

Hey, I have never been able to get a card that works over 1Gb. I was told that Dane Elec is the best brand, and that people have been able to use up to a 4Gb card, right out of the box, without formatting. I just got mine in the mail today, popped it in and the MP wasn't able to read it. After formatting, I only had 1 Gb available, just like all my other 2Gb cards. I am also getting navigation issues when trying to load from any 2Gb card. I can go multi levels into folders, and then I get stuck in one of them, unable to go in or out further. The only solution is to pop the card out, pop it back in again, and let the Load screen re-scan the ATAPI drive. Been having a LOT of issues with this MPC2000XL MCD. Maybe there was a Rev. that fixed this in later versions of the MP, does anyone know about this?
