I know that this is an ongoing topic, but just a quick something that i'm unclear about.

I have a 2000xl Midi'ed up to my Motif 8. As of now, I DON'T have the 8 outs, but i'm about to get the Digi001 which has 8 inputs. Now if I hook up the MPC to the Digi001, utilizing the 8 outs and ins, then I can channel each track so that Track 1 from the MP will be on Track 1 of Pro Tools, Track 2 on MP - Track 2 on PT, Track 3 - Track 3, etc? But then what about the Motif sounds? Would I have to put those in seperately, because since sound doesn't go through Midi, then I would also need 2 plug the Motif in, right?

So if this is the case, then how do you all do it? Do you audio in all of the MPC tracks through the 8 outs, and then after, plug up your keyboard or synth and then track those in 1 by one?

instead of being limited by the eight outs of the digi why dont you just buy a studio workstation that will allow you to plug in more than 8 inputs at any given time. more effective

plus the Digi 001 if i correct might not even be carried anymore the one that i have seen tat has eight outs is the Digi 002 which is 1,199 dollars and you have to have a mac to use (Im not not too sure on that but ibelieve that to be correct).

but if you go in terms of a mulitrack like this

or even still if you still want to go in terms of computer based
this will be even better

Just cuz ya have 8 outs dont mean you have to use them all. You could use 6 from the MPC and 2 from the Motif. Voila.

Ahhhh.... So true... thats the response I was waiting for.... where do they sell the 8 outs? I've never seen any in stores, and I never see any one Ebay... bout how much do they run?

And oh yeah, how would you channel the tracks to run through? Like how would u set Track one to exit out of line out 1?

look at what i posted above you will see links.

so what happens when you need all eight outs for your mpc thn ur screwed

plus what if you have the motif
the motif rack has the 4 to eight outs

you will need atleast 16 inputs to make sure that everthing can be tracked

I figure that i can play what needs to be played through 6 outs of the MPC, to 6 ins of the 001, and then put two out the Motif, to the other two into the 001, and then I figure, 8 tracks will record at a time..... then when those are done, i'll configure the preferences otherwise so that i can seperately track whichever other tracks.........

That sounds kinda confusing, but i think i understand it, so hopefully you do to

Go to ebay and type in MPC 2000XL in the search engine. You should pull up a couple of 8 out cards one was $219 buy it now and the other was $199 buy it now. The 8 outs are assigned to pads so whose to say you cant just assign them to 6 pads for your first take and 6 different ones for your second. There are ways around using all 8 outs. just do it the same way you would if you had more than 8 tracks. For example, say your sequence is using 12 tracks, one pad per track. assign tracks 1-6 to your 6 outs hit record on your multi-tracker and presto, repeat these steps for tracks 7-12 and there you go.
Hope that helped.

You can walk into the guitar center and go to the pro audio section and ask a salesman to see if it's in stock, he'll look in the computer and if he got it he'll sell it to you and have someone bring it out to you at the counter...
