What's up Akai?

Living in NYC, why am I unable to get an MPC1000 anywhere except EBAY? None of the local music shops like Sam Ash or Manny's, or B&H have seen even ONE...and have NO IDEA when they will...people are speculating all sorts of things...from distribution FUABR to chip recall, to they just suck that's all...
Anyone on this board heard anything juicy on th topic?
Just wondering. Maybe akai decided to go back and fix something major (like put a decent data wheel on the thing).

I got mine from samedaymusic.com...the website said it was on backorder for another week, but when I ordered it, it showed up 2 days later (free 2 day shipping). sweet deal. current web shows they'll have more in two weeks.

The Turntable lab store is actually in the East Village...I think on 7th and A. Their Brooklyn offices are for mail / online orders.

I ended up saving the tax and buying from a music store in Arizona...do I feel like I am jerking NYC out of tax revenue?
Hmmm, do they feel bad about 100s of dollars of parking tickets over the years (alternate side regulations!) in my own hood?

ha! i did the same exact thing (rainbow guitars?) and i also felt good about skipping out on the nyc sales tax. that's like $100 right there.
