If you stand by that statement..we have to agree to disagree. As a long time user of MPCs, I found the MPC 2500 very usuable right out the box. There was no learning curve. Most of the features the 2000/XL and the 2500 have in common, pretty much function the same.

Now if you find that offensive or obnoxious, your problems are not with me but your yourselves. Can't you guys read? Dude wasn't asking for just your opinons on the subject. You do know this is a public forum? You said that you had to re-learn it. I disagreed saying that I found it to me simple to use. Don't get you panties in a bunch. It wasn't that big of deal. You guys are so sensitive.

Re-reading my previous post, I can see where your feathers got ruffled when I stated that real MPC users would have no problems with creating music as soon as they turn it on. I stand by that statement. But if it offended you, I apologize. But you still need to step your MPC game up if you have any problems of moving from any older MPC to this one. Damn...did I offend again? It wasn't my intention

Oh..if you precede or follow any response with a wise-crack..no matter how subtle it may be...I do got jokes for you.

Yes, this site is a good place to get info. But its also a place (I believe) to network and have a good time. It would be boring if you only get straight info....but that is just my 2 cents...

In regard to what TBC said, I have been doing some browsing also and have noticed that a lot of cats are saying that the 2500 does have a few issues with the OS, but from what I am hearing these issues can be avoided. Am I right or wrong on this? I better ask around on this one :(

OH man you didn't buy it yet? I thought you would have been banging some beats out by now.

I would do more reading on it if you're still not comfortable. Don't jump into it that way. I don't know how you are with equipment so I was just speaking for myself.

There are tons of threads on here that can help steer you a certain way. Read up on the features that you would be using most and see which would benefit you the most or not at all.

One thing that sounds really promising about the 2500 is the mute pad feature. Personally, I don't have enough knowledge on it but it's one feature most people here really love about the 2500. There is a long way of doing it on the 2kxl that most seem to think is a waste of time.

Dig around a bit and don't rush yourself into buying. You'll be happier in the end.

I know I don't have that much experience to share on these but I'm in the same boat with you. I'm still leaning to the 2kxl mcd.

Get the 2500 man, step into the future!

It's a much more capable machine and the bugs it has aren't catastrophic by any means.

There may be 20 users on here having problems but way more that aren't.

Well, I am curious to know who they people are that are not having problems.

My son uses it with no problems. But he doesn't use alot of MIDI. I use MIDI and it is far from being stable.

jahrome...can you tell me exactly what some of the problems you are having are? Are they really big issues that make you not enjoy using it? I want to make the right choice here.

Upright - I don't know if this will be your first MPC but you should also go to youtube.com, they have quite a few short tutuorial videos on the 2500 and some on the 2kxl. Check them out they might help you to see some of the features in action. Just a thought.

The 2500 has been a pain trying to properly record using a MIDI keyboard controller and MIDI sound modules.

Sometimes, it doesn't always playback what you recorded correctly. Sometimes, notes sustain when they are not suppose to or go to the other extreme..recording notes that are suppose to sustain but they play back with notes that are cutoff.

That sucks, I just got my 2500 a week ago and my friend keeps telling me how much he loves having his midi controller and sound modules hooked up to his 4000 and prefers it over going through Logic.

I was contemplating on doing the same with my setup, but after hearing this I think I will keep them hooked into Nuendo.

You might as well try it for yourself first. It might not happen to you

It might not happen??

This has been a confirmed problem since the first OS. But if you are using a 61 key controller, you may not have some of the issues I have faced because I use an 88 key controller. But make no mistake..the MIDI issues are there.

I'll give it a try over the weekend and see what happens. I am using a 76 Key controller.

You're right, i don't have an 88 key controller but surely that's irrelevant as the midi notes transmitted to the MPC would be the same whether you hit the last note on an 88 key or a use a 3 octave controller that you have to transpose 5 times to get to the 88th note?

Obviously i'm not saying you're lying but if i haven't suffered these problems yet, then surely it i'm not the only one?

Or maybe..just maybe, you don't really use that function much. As I said before, I have verified this with Akai. Now I must admit that I have yet to play with OS 1.21...which said that it only fixed the system test bug...
