Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By Mashamatix Sun Jun 18, 2006 3:21 am
Im having a problem with my MPC2000 display's contrast. It seems that my screen gets lighter the longer I have it on and doesnt let me change it back after a certain point. It gets to the point where nothing is visible (usually after a few hours). When I first turn it on its always able to go to the darkest setting but it just doesnt stay that way.

Anybody know what the problem could be? Do I have to get a new display already?

(BTW Hello, im new to the forums)

It sounds like more than likely you will need to get a new a screen. Try not to leave your MPC on for too long. Thats why screens go out so quickly. Do you have an XL or just the 2000? If its the XL and you bought it new, send it back to Akai and make them replace it.

Damn I was hoping not to have to replace the screen. How do I go about that and how much money am I looking at spending? Is there any risk of **** my whole machine up while replacing the screen?

It doesnt take long to happen, after like an hour or 2 it starts to fade but there are no missing pixels.

its just a 2k and I bought it off ebay about a year ago (dude who sold it to me said he just replaced the screen)

Check vstservice.com
I think they run around a couple hundred dollars. They are pretty easy to replace. I dont think you'll mess up your machine unless you have no I dea what youre doing. If thats the case, send it to VST and they can do it for you.

If you aren't comfortable opening up your machine and **** with stuff(I would't be), take it to a professional electronics repair shop. Buy the part online, bring it to them and tell them what you need.
If you have a 2000 classic now is your chance to upgrade to the tilt screen from the 2000xl(I believe they are compatible?).
Peace
