Potential MPC 1K Buyer

Hello to all:

I have been browsing around these forums for a while, and now have decided to buy an MPC 1000; I am going to Miami next week, and hope to get to the nearest Guitar Center and pick one. This is going to be my first MPC.
My only concern is to have all of the right equipment, since Hip Hop productions tools are not easy to find in Mexico. I currently have a PC and a Mac, with all kind of software you could imagine (from Ableton live 5, Cubase, Logic Express, Soft Synth, Reason, etc), a Synth from Yamaha, a dedicated MIDI Interface and dedicated USB Audio Interface, both from M-Audio, and AKG MIC and Technics Turntables (1200´s). Do I need to get additional gear?

You have MORE than you need, You are good to go. Even WITHOUT an mpc you are good to go. But seeing that you want an mpc, 1k is a good choice, your golden dude, go get em tiger.

decent speakers?

im not going to say you _have_ to have studio monitors cause you dont.

just decent speakers (and amp if necessary) that present a fairly flat frequency response.



other than that, sounds good.

i assume you have a mixer with phono inputs already to go with the 1200's..

Thank you lampdog for your advise; I have been in the game since the mid 90´s and used to own and EMU SP 1200 and ASR-10 Keyboard; but have to dropped it, since I was getting to college....life goes on! I know it might be a good option to have a more powerful DAW like Protools, what do you think about that?

About the monitors, I am using a pair of Alesis Monitors (Monitor One MK2), powered by an external amplifier, also from Alesis. I used to have some classic Monitors from JBL...I am about to buy a new Mixer, since the one I have from Gemini is failing.....
