Gotdamn PADS!

Maybe i hit the pads too hard...but what can i say?I was a drummer and i used to hit that bass drum so hard with my foot for that deep sound!Ooooooooooo i love it when you kick that bass drum and it dumps out that deep ass THUMP!But anyway...sometimes i make fast drum beats,and when i hit the pad consecutively,the kick dies down and kills what im trying to do.Its really annoying having to continuously start over because by the time i finally get it how i want it to be...my finger is **** up.So i ask...is there any way of getting over this?My mpc is not old at all...only a year and i havent been using over the winter but is it the pads that may need replacement already?Is there a setting i must make for the sound to not die down when im busting out fast kick patterns?

time to glue your pads

take apart your mpc pads.
glue the graphite on every pad to the underside of the rubber pad, over the dome with strong contact cement
put em back together.

aaand you're done

Change the sensitivity and velocity curve on the pad you usually put your kick on. Should give you a higher and more stable velocity value.
One plan might also be to stop treating the pad with the brute force you usually apply to your kick pedal. Whether or not you used to be a drummer or a guitarist, this instrument has a totally different interface and should be treated with that in mind.

Maybe you should get a foot pedal to play your kicks!

Last I recall, the footswitch inputs are used for start/stop funtions.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I wouldn't mind using 2 foot pedals for bass drums (or double bass drums), and hi-hats. I still have fun jammin' on acoustic kit programs. So I'd definitely buy a pair of pedals if these trigger functions existed.

Since OS 2 you can assign the footswitch to pads. I find it very hand for hihats.

yeah again glue your pads, then adjust the sensitivity. after that you can hit em all you want within reason. footswitches are just icing. however, don't think that you can't glue em. YOU NEED TO OPEN YOUR MACHINE UP AND FIX AKAI'S PROBLEM. don't let it be YOUR problem. they effed up, you make it better. it sucks, but it's worth it.
