MPC1000 OS V3.0 beta ?

why doesnt the 2500 OS work on the 1000 then?

Last time I looked, physically, they were two differnt machines. I would guess that the OS might run into problems if it tried to control an internal CD that doesn't exist or send sounds to outputs that aren't there, etc.

By the time JJ finishes, you will see that there is little - if any - difference between the two other than options that relate directly to the obvious hardware differences.

worked on a beat last night. had a dry spell recently cuz i've just been working and listening to reckids in my spare time

what an awesome workflow. i was moving so fast, all the time. things are so great.

but here's something that could use improvement - in grid edit, hit tap tempo and select multiple items - 5 or mo. then hit window. lots of stuff there - but not much control over it.

hmmmmmmmmmm.

Cant wait till this OS is more stable.

I'll be on it like a flash, especially if this dude keeps releasing updates.

I hope this developer doesn't get poached by Akai coz they are in this game to make money and they'd probably make us wait a year for updates. Or worse, save all these new features for an MPC1000 MK2.

I much prefer this dude to stay underground with his skills and get support from us real MPC users.

I hope you guys represent and buy this OS when it drops instead of just making copies for ur friends

wouldn´t it be easier for akai to stop production of the mpc1000 and to concentrate only on the mpc2500? just an idea!!!

well i played for almost 4 hours live with the new os 3 beta and it didn´t crash, no timing errors nor output channel problems.

what could AKAI really do to him. I say nothing reason being

If I brought a corvette and for some reason the internal CPU only alowwed me to go 150 max but I changed it to top off at 200 is chevy going to try to take my vette away...no! Its not like he took a copyrighted material and reproduced it.

After I purchase anything isnt it in my legal right to alter as long as its mine?

If this isnt the case I need to scrape the paint off my mpc for my AKAI sues me for my new colorway

well it's the same reason you can't view/edit the source code of windows, i guess. plus, it looks like he's cutting and pasting code from the 2500/os 2.1 of the 1000. which i of course see NO problem with, in fact i support him as you all know

but i bet akai is not gonna like it. esp if they see it as a threat to their precious 2500. if we're lucky, they'll just step up their game on the 2500.

if we're REALLY lucky, they'll open source everything. i swear. their machines would flourish if they did that.

essentially, akai needs more user feedback. they need this forum on their goddamn page. there's a crucial disconnect between their user and their designers.

in my opinion, they've gotten too big.
i seriously wish i knew how to build a drum machine.
i would build one that would kick everyone's ass.

why dont you just use reason as a module? i used to sync it but that's a lil too clumsy for me.

if only reason had midi out, you could use reason's sequencer and then record it to the mpc sequencer. use the reason sequencer as a halfway point.

yeah i seriously suggest using reason as a module instead of it's sequencer synced, much more convenient.

nonetheless we're gonna need sync again.

however, w/ the mpc having grid edit now, it kinda eliminates the need for sync...but w/e

as for lining up waves - after you're done with your beat on the mpc and you're about to start recording, insert a 1 bar sequence before your beat. set a short sample to play on 1.01.00 on all tracks. record as normal.

then trim your wav so that the sample you triggered is at the very beginning of your wav. that way lining up is reaaally easy.

This is just in time and could be the ticket to my rebirth as a exclusive MPC 1000 producer (since it's all I have left besides Reason and my laptop). I just got the 1616m Cardbus and am config'in it as I type. I can't mope around anymore. I got robbed, and I got over it. THis is only gonna make me stronger, and I wonder what I'm going to sound like in a coupla weeks.

If news of JJs work is, ultimately, well publicised, there is the potential for lots of new MPC1000 users deciding that they want one. It's a win win situation for Akai and, as I said previously, a positive development for all parties.

well, you make a good point, but consider this:
if akai felt it was in their best interest for the 1k to have for example chop shop, they could have done it with minimal effort by cut'n'pasting code from the 2.5k.

the fact they chose not to do this proves that in _their minds_ , JJs work is not in their best interests.
