I agree.Alot of music can just be used as inspiration,relaxation,entertainment,whatever.Half of the albums i own will probably never be sampled by me but i just like to listen.

I enjoy listening so i'll just buy records to listen to sometimes. I sometimes buy reissues if it's something i missed and won't be able to find anywhere else (without ending up with an empty wallet) and i just want to listen. People saying they fully refuse to buy resissues you don't know what u missin. Good music ain't just for sampling.

When i do buy records for sampling i don't give a **** about the reissues and originals issue. Most reissues (i see anyway) are stuff that i've heard anyway (or classics). I mostly go to charity shops or Car Boot sales to dig so most of the stuff i get are originals anyway. Quoted from a Madlib interview this explains my attitudes to sampling:

"Man, give me a comp, give me a reissue, a tape, it don't matter, man. If I got to, I'll hook my shit up to the TV."

I'm always on the lookout for records whether it be on Ebay, in charity stores, car boot sales, record stores, etc.

I am not a crate digger...but what is wrong with buying re-issues?

Ok...I have original older LPs. However, I see or hear nothing different when I playback new LPs or new re-issues.

Is there a different process for creating new LPs or re-issues?

I have Bought and Seen...........Re-Issues................

That Had Grooves Pressed that made the Needle Wobble..........

That Had Errors on the Labels................

That Had Artwork that Was Shadowy In Contrast to the OG Copy..............

That Have Even Been Missing TRAX.................



It All Depends ON Who IS Doing The Re-Issue.................(Quality Does VARY)

I used to chop on the mpc but now i go through SoundForge and just recently got Audacity with my new TT.I only do it this way now because it takes some of the work off the mp and let's you edit samples faster.There are also alot of features on those programs that would cost a fortune to own in outboard gear.

Does it really matter? I mean I dont have a turntable, so by your definition its impossible for me dig. But I do... I go to Slavation Army, & Good Will, and look thru old CD's that cost $1. I go to my grandma's house, and pick up disc's, and sample off her collection. I go thru my moms old CD's. I watch, & buy old movies, and sample off them. I think im diggin'. Now whether or not im searching thru some old abandoned warehouse for that "Magic Record" to sample from, no. But I am digging for sounds, and using the equipment that I have to search for what I need none the less.
Now downloading sounds, or loops off the net, I wouldnt consider that digging.

Ive used Sound Forge, Audacity, and Adobe Audition, and the one I love is Adobe Audition 1.5. It's so great, and easy. It lets me do what I want to do quickly. I sample from Audition, I record from audition, and I master, and mix from Audition. I pretty much do it all with that. its so easy. In fact its open and im sampling right now while talking to you.
