fears about mpc1k...

ive been lookin around on this site for a while and its proved to be very useful.

i always was into beatmaking but only had fruity loops and sound forge and a really sh*t laptop. im not really into making music on the PC so i wanted to get an MPC.

i finally settled on the 1000 version but now ive learned that its less well built than the other mpcs and the pads are kinda messed up (and need constant maintenance)

i just dont wanna spend alot of money on a machine that is faulty, so could somebody please advise me on this. thanks

I felt the same way when I was looking up on the unit. Have not once regretted my decision to get it and my good feelings for this unit keeps growing over time.

Well I have used it for 30 livesets or something. I even dropped it on it's face on the floor from a meter high and it still works fine. I don't use the sliders.

Get it. Sort yer pads out at a later date if you need to, it's not that difficult..
However, no complaints here so far.

Owned a few MPCs. Had the 1000 since it was first released. Still looks as good as new and not had a single problem with it at all. Arguably, the best MPC pound for pound.

yeah me too...... like 2 1\2 years without a problem.

it's not less well built than other mpcs internally or externally.

the pads are the only concern hardware wise. newer models have better pads. older models just take a little gluing and you're good to go.

i think i will get the mpc1k now. (especially now that it looks soooo sexy in black...)

one question tho, what website should i order from coz i live in ireland and there isnt nowhere here that stocks an mpc...

try turnkey, imuso or digital village.

the last one offered me the best price.

You sure? have you tried asking your local music store what retail they can get it ordered in for?.. might be worth asking anyway.

also recomend turnkey i live in SA and i got the best price from them

remember even with web based retailers, order over the phone,
cos you can get a better price, extras chucked in. Haggle it.
Also get them to send you a confirmation by email that it is in stock and will be dispached immediately! Always works for me

Hey, Im from Ireland aswell and a proud 1k owner. I got mine off ebay pretty much brand new for a great price (careful about getting caught on tax if you get from an American seller) other than that i find dolphin music and turnkey great. Enjoy her when she comes!!!!!
