Sampler Newbie "duh" question(s)

Sorry I couldn't figure this out for myself — On the Akai Z4, is there a way to automatically adjust an instrument sample I've created (for instance, a note recorded from my old Sequentional Circuits Pro One) to play each note the same duration- currently, as the notes go down the scale, the duration is longer, and the opposite when going up the scale. (when triggered by a MIDI controller keyboard.)? Or do I need special sample editing software? I have a dual 125 meg G4 platinum, dual bootable in both OS9 and OSX, and I use Digital Performer 4 OSX as my audio editor / sequencing software.

P.S. - I'm a sampler newbie, just in case it wasn't apparent - I know this is a MPC forum - If anyone knows of a forum for the Akai Z series, please let me know.
