Just got the 2500 and I dont think i could be more disaponited.

1. This Jog Wheel is the worst feature in the history of MPCZ (EX 1000). Where is the outter rim jog to change the figure by multiples? Now you have to press shift + or - then use jog wheel.
(now found Q link slider feature, its pretty good)

2. 128 MB memory internal max??? Does this mean for $3000AU I can get a whole 15mins of sample time. Beauty!!! WTF? I could get a G5 for the same price. I know the groove and swing are great features but MV8000 looks the deal for me. More sample time, better screen probably crappier sound "Toughness" but i am forking out the money I want some value. at the moment the 2500 is %99 name sake.

I have been a HUGE supporter of MPC for many years and i think its time for most users to get over them milking roger linn design.

yea all akai ram.

i dont want to change to roland, but the sample time is too small.

if i have 128 installed, record a 3 min sample use chop shop then record another 3 min sample. use chop shop then record another 3 min sample. (for a megamix) is it possible?

or each time do i have to clear the ram then record again.

i want to have about 10 different type of drum kits/programs at once.
is this possible

for starters, why on earth are you sampling one 3 minute sound??????? Let alone three 3 minutes sounds???

you can have numerous programs all being used together, you just need diff names.

well the 'megamix' thing... heard of ableton live.. might be a better idea for this,

or a little SKUMBAG trick i sometimes used before i got the ram upgrade, before putting long samples on Flash card use audio program(sound recorder if ur pov) to increase speed, then once loaded on mpc just tune it wayy wayy down, good in chop shop, - its a Pretty Shitttty tactic but it saved ram

SKUMBAG thats pretty cool man. I never thought of that one.

What i dont get is, to me its like asking someone to write an essay on a paper the size of a match stick.

If i want to remix a song the song is 3-4 mins. so thats say %25 of internal memory already right? then I use "chop shop" the main sample will still be in the memory, with 15 other samples. so all up now i have used 50% of sample memory?

Then i want to "Blend" it with a whole other song. So I repeat the above procedure. That is !00% of that memory gone. what about my individual sounds that i still havnt loaded yet but will definantly need to use in this song.

I hope that i am getting this wrong.
I also know it is possible to do what i want wiith the 2500 cause my 2000 found a way. I used to connect a 100mb zip and thn I used to get 100seconds more sample time.

Man, I really wonder how you got along with your 2000 at all...

Maybe you should try to find out a little more about what your new machine can do and what not. In fact, you sound like you should have done that before you spent 3000 AUD. It is not designed to hold multiple sampled songs in memory.

By the way, you can install up to 80GB of hard disk space inside your 2500 to permanently save your data, like on the ZIP drive on your 2000.

Oh, and here's some currency converter:

..basically. stilo is correct. that remixing shit should be done in computers, i dont think mpcs were made for that. if anything, make the beat, run it to an cool edit/pro tools/or whatever on your comp, and further remix there.

im not even that old, and i remember when i was happy to have 30 seconds of sample time. felt like i had the world at my fingertips. lol. damn. :?

good luck to you, and australia didnt play too bad this world cup. cheers.

why do you even use an mpc for that why not just use a software DAW and make life easier for yourself

these machines are not really designed specifically for remixing and blending whole songs, but more for composition and arranging in smaller parts

which explains the limited sample time
