Who cares?
Akai products are going to get worse. With Numark toying around with cheaper parts, the mpcs future looks pretty shady IMO.

BTW, I think dropping a 5000, without first dropping another, final O.S. for the 4000, or a 4000XL, is disrespectful, and would potentially hurt Akai Professional's legacy even more.

maybe akai needs tp expand there products, they have a big enough library to build a synth, the rack mount sampler dayz is over, how many more mpc's can you remake? if it were up to me I would just keep upgrading the 4000 at least to 3.0 before making another maching whose heart and soul is to sample and sequence.if they would add some of the feature's we requested I won't need a 5k.

Dunno about you guys, but the back of my 4000 says MADE IN CHINA. I don't take it as indicitive of bad quality these days, most every manufactured item is made there these days, ESPECIALLY electronics.
The paint on the backplate of my 4000 is crap though, I can scratch it with my fingernail! Same for the purple screenprint on the top.
RE: MPC 5000 or whatever - I can't see Akai making another machine to top the 4000 for years, if ever. NuAkai seem to have gone back to the older sample engine (44.1 at 16 bit), there is no indication they would suddenly pull 192k 24bit out of fresh air - that would take a heck of a lot of R+D IMHO. I fully agree they should work a bit more on the 4000 OS.
