MPC2000XL vs MPC1000

Most MP3's are decent quality. The sound quality loss isn't that big a deal your just going to end up distorting the sound with effects anyway. Also, vinyl sounds like ish especially when it's old, so I don't see the fuss about MP3 sound degradation. Do what U gotta do to get your sounds. This is Hip Hop!

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but the awful sound of vinyl is what makes it so sweet, it's the best thing to use. If you want to save money and download go ahead, but vinyl is the best source for exclusive samples that are hard to get, there are so many records that never got reissued on cd therefore not even available on mp3... I can get a nasty mexican mariachi guitar and use it, that nobody would even have an mp3 of... and to answer the question of the actual post, if the mpc is your first, go with the 1000... it's easy to use and really gives you alot for your dollar. You can probably get a used 2000xl for the same price, if you choose to buy used though... it's an overall hard decision.

there is nothing better than going to the local vinyl store and diggin through the dollar crates and basing ur decisions on the covers of the records (usually mean lookin soul brothers). then going home and finding endless samples of all kinds of different sounds for different purposes lke drums, strings, piano, etc... whenever i sample something off the computer i just don't feel right. its like my work is not complete and im losing a piece of creativity or something. just how i feel tho. im sure alot of people dissagree

exactly, the art of digging should never be lost. i think i learned alot just off this thread alone, then i have my whole time shopping for an mpc. i think i gonna pick up the 1000.

you need to turn the master output volume to 0 instead of -6 in the MODE>OTHER. and then put up full level.
