mpc 2000x boot question

Yes recently something happened to my mpc 2000xl which requires me to use a bootdisk everytime I turn it on. I used to just turn it own and it load but now it requires a disk, can anyone help

I'm not an expert ,but im guessing that you could try to download the latest operating system at the akai web site. Then load that 1 up. That may solve the problem :?

Can anyone tell me how to store the boot disk into the memory, so i wouldn't have to use the disk anyumore

I know that in the 2000xl there's a chip that stores the OS on it so you don't need to use a boot disk. Maybe yours is bad, or fried? I would call Akai on that one.

i got a 2000(not xl) and this is happening to me. i seem to need the disk every time i turn it on...

well i found in the owners manual it says hit shift-load(3)

and then you get a screen to load the disk to the machine.

the manual says hit "do it " a couple times and the os will install and then prompt you to restart the machine.

of course my jawn just sits there when i press do it. nothing happens. does this sound like the os chip is fried? i guess its not the end of the world as im prolly never gonna use the floppy drive for anything, but it really annoying...

any ideas would be appreciated....

from a thread in the akai mailing list it seems that maybe its a 2000 thing?

that you cant install an os . . . cause this guy was saying his friend with a 2000 has to insert he disk everytime....wt heck?

so its either a fried chip? or a 2000 problem? or just me not figuring something out (i hope)

The 2k classic doesn't have a os flash rom at all. You have to load the os every time.
