It seems that many of the new or new-ish MPC users, have forgotten that the machine they so love, is designed to make MUSIC. If your from a Hip Hop background you will all be aware of Premier, Pete Rock, Jay Dee, Marley Marl, Q Tip, RZA, Large Pro etc. NOW, all of the records that were made during the 80's and 90's by those guys that are universally recognised as classics, such as "CREAM", "Looking at the Front Door", Nobody beats the Biz", "Get This Money", "Scenario", "The Wig Out" ETC., were made on OLDER MPC's and other samplers (SP's, Ensoniqs's, EMU's, Yamaha's etc.)

Those guys had no MPC forums, asking questions about 'why can't I hear my MIDI keyboard in my MPC?'. There were NO video tutorials, UTube, Music Technology magazines doing articles with Hip Hop producers, sample CD's, music technology courses, cracked DAW software and plugins....etc.

YET, those records and countless others made by other producers are still played and brought TODAY and are better then most of the new Hip Hop records today. WHY?

They got a desire and a passion for music that doesn't seem to exist today. Producers now have everything possible to HELP them make music (See Above). Yet many seem to just talk ABOUT making music and their MPC/home studio/software etc, but then not actually make music.

Maybe its an ego trip for some people to talk about their MPC! I don't know. But maybe people should concentrate on making music or learning about music FIRST before anything else. I've seen EXPERT USERS on this forum who have only just got an MPC!!! I've being using MPC's for over 10 years but I would never call myself an expert. I teach music productiion and have been involved in music professionally for 20 years, yet I'm still learning about music everyday!

The guy who set this site up needs a medal. It has really helped all of us at some time. ALTHOUGH, the junk I see here must get on people's nerves, or is it just me. I don't look on it very often because of the junk, I very really post anything as I don't get much free time and as time goes on, the junk increases.

Luckily, I've been blessed to hang out with some of the legends of Hip Hop production (although I'm into lots of music, that my background), and those guys passion, desire and knowledge of music is ridiculous. I don't see many people on this site with the same mentallity at those guys. Why is that? REMEMBER, those guys didn't have Chop Shop to make those records on!

bro no one cares who u hung around with or if they used chop shop or not people that arnt considered legends still go through the struggle .... so I dont see your point at all.....I understand the kiddys have all the new toys and everything is alot more accesible ...but do you actually think if your handed everything on a gold platter your gonna make full use of it?

right now I m enjoying options that never exsisted in the past ...is that a bad thing?

Antonym,

Yeah...I just have thousands of dollars invested in gear that I don't use. Only if you could be so lucky. Anyway, its hard to create music with the 2500 when it doesn't record my MIDI tracks correctly. I took it along with me during this trip..and guess what?? The system test bug cam back. I forgot to install the latest OS so, no MPC until I return home in a few days.

Earwolf..dude, if I wanted to buy that cheap toy, I would just go out and buy one. They are only a few hundred dollars. So don't project your frustrations onto me. The closest you will ever get to an MPC 2500 is browsing these forums.

Jacpot, I really don't care what you think my music sounds like. I really don't care which MPC you use. I certainly don't care what your music sounds like. So, step your game up and get the MPC your heart desires and create some music, if that is what you choose to do. If you are here to talk about the MPC 2500, I am here for you

As for you earwolf, what do you need to know about the 2500 since you obviously want one? If you have a credit card, there is a company that will do a payment plan for you.....

Do they work? You spend so much time in this forum, one would think you know the answer to that question.

Put it this way, it does just about everything your current MPC does and alot more. Just don't count on the 'alot more' always working 100%

So, you can continue hanging in the forums reading what the 2500 can and can not do or go beat on your dusty MPC that you are obviously not satisfied with....and because there is nothing else left to talk about....your choice.
