Is there a way to hook a midid controller straight up to the MPC and play say a bass sample with the keyboard? Say I load a bass sample into the MPC, can I play the sampl in with my keyboard instead of using the pads to trigger it in?

yes but the pads will not be in the same order as the keys. I still can't figure out why they didn't map them. future OS I hope.

do a search in the forums for blank melodic program

you'll find a program you can load up that maps the keys properly

The blank melodic program is just the chromatic midi program from the rhodes "multisample" that came on your factory cf card. All it does is tune the pads by semitones in the program screen from -24 to +24.
You can do this yourself.

You can just use the autochromatic program to lay out the tunings automatically.

Why search the forums for some program, if there is already one right on your card?

takes 30 seconds to make a blank chromatic program.
