another sample clearance question

so i copped a record of moog covers...there's a beatles sample that sounds good. how do you clear a cover?

i wouldn't worry too much about getting it cleared unless you expect your music to be heard by ALOT of people. You could always chop it up. Wouldn't you pay out the @$$ if you tried to clear a beatles sample???

Are you a producer or Label?

Dont even worry about clearing the sample. If you are releasing your own album on a major label then you would have to but that doesnt seem to be the case. The dudes at Stonesthrow dont even have to clear samples! I dont understand why this question gets asked all the time.

Damn yall, make a hot ass beat...if the artist likes it, his label will pay the clearence..most cats have a budget...hope the artist u sampled isnt a Paul Mcartny...

As far as Stones goes tho...im not sure bout the sample clearance issues with em..didnt Madlib do he Bluenotes remixes..i heard he was down with the original artists he was sampling, and they didnt worry bout askin for dolo...juss what i heard..

dilla said he didn't necessarily clear all the samples in a interview, i forget where its at but i've heard it before. and stonesthrow aint THAT big. its big to all the underground heads cuz its underground. They're not mainstreeam all over big radio stations so they dont hafta worry about sample clearance and all that shit. and its not they dont clear all of their samples, im sure some shit gets cleared but for the most part no.

and hoenstly, if your like me, and if u have no **** clue who you sampled from, what label, what the record was, what the cover looked like, then the chances of a gamble are in your extreme favor. i have a beat taht's so chopped up i could show u the original sample and then show u my beat and u still wouldn't notice it was sampled from that original song even if i told u.

ok im just rambling now but as i said in the first paragraph.

I sample mostly just hat's, Kicks, Snare, and instruments. I hardly ever do loops, and if it is, im just messing around.

yeah most inde hip-hop they don't bother to clear samples. I know someone who works for Fat Beats (the label) and he says they never clear samples.
