Hard drive question MPC1000

Ok I just got the hard drive and the hdm-10 (directly from akai) today. But when I installed it (followed the directions from sparqs post) the hard drive doesn't show up in the load, save or format mode. I was wondering if anybody had the same problem and could help me resolve this issue? Thanks...

After about three hours and alot of searching, the drive just pops up? Huh it works fine now. Thanks....

Huh??? Turned on the mpc today and the drive is gone now??? It won't show up now....

I'd check the connections between the MPC and the HDM kit, and also make sure that the drive is well-seated onto its connector. Might not help at all, but it's easy to chase round in circles looking for a software fix when the problem might be as simple as a loose connector. I know that I've done that myself many times before ...
