This is just a question .

I understand that some people may think its a waste of time to change the display based on colour. But its just a question.

Does anyone know what brand / make or type of display screen the 1000 uses ?

or are there any similiar type of displays out there on other gear that uses the same technology that could be used to substitute this display ?

Theres nothing wrong with the display just curious for modification purposes.
intrested in changing it into blue.

Does red color make your car go faster ?...

Guess you could try chaning plastic part of the screen that's attatched to the chasis of the top cover.

i was interested in this too a long while ago, but i never found out who makes the screen. if it's akai themselves, you won't have any luck finding one with a different colour. however, the led used for the backlight can be changed for a different colour, though it would require highly decent soldering skills, strictly not for the amateur.

true, but do you wear the same clothes every day? i very much doubt it, unless you're talking to us from prison/beyond the grave (though even in heaven i understand theres various shades of 'Holy White').

not sure that would work as you'd need white light coming through to be able to filter out other colours to leave blue.

maybe a guess is'nt what you want, but a guess is that the backlight is colored by a light diode that could be changed. i've seen LCdisplays that can change into several colors. it might be as easy as changeing the light diode.

I believe you may be correct about the backlight being a diode. Somewhere in this forum, I read about it, though I had forgot all about it and never took the opportunity to inspect the display when I re-glued my pads. But anyway, the LCD in my display seems to have an uneven contrast where some parts are bleeding and others are dim or dull. It's been this way for a while, but I've left it alone. I'll have to further examine the display. I'm not sure if I can repair or modify it, but I may as well buy a spare anyway and experiment if possible.

do a search. Al these questions are answered before, incl. brandname and type of display and modification options.

I wanted to change display colours a while back but i like the green and im happy with it,
I find that on some other gear that blue and white screens is a little to bright , the green is perfect

...or you do a search. Every little detail is already there.

It's third party display made by Powertip in Taiwan. The backlit lighting are green LED's in SMD technology. The display is available in different colors but the problem is the controller. The display and the controller are on one assembly, and the controller contains a specific AKAI driver. In other words: it is customized for AKAI. Switching the whole assembly wouldn't work. You could make out of two assemblies (the customized AKAI one and an assembly with the color of your choice) a new one, but this would be *very* difficult.

You don't understand it technically. The colour of the display not only depends from the LED's but also from 2 sheets of foil. A spreading one and a colouring one. The actual LED's are yellow instead of green.
It would be experimenting with colours with an uncertain result.
Furthermore the LED's are SMD, so replacing them would be an extremely precise soldering job. To complicate it even more, the LED's are under the glass LCD sheets which connect to the main assembly with small silicon-carbon-stripes. At the slightest dispositioning your display will show artifacts.

If all this sounds encouraging to you...
