So...I have been patient with all the crazy quirks of the MPC 2500 since it came out, I have dealt with the crazy bugs by exercising patience. Finally, the system test flu attacked my MPC last week and I fixed it simply by following the instructions on this forum [Good work peoples!]. Now that I I am running the latest OS 1.21, my mpc no longer syncs with pro tools. I though maybe it was something I did so checked both systems and everything is checked/unchecked where it need to be...still it won't sync.

So I decided to downgrade back to the "plagued OS 1.20" and boom! my mpc sync with protools first try.

So please answer is it just me?

Nope its not you, sync was broken with 1.21 for me too. I went back to 1.20 as I haven't had any problems with the System Test bug.

I thought I was going crazy Rozzer, but now I know it those crazy folks at Akai. Everytime they release a OS to fix a problem they end up breaking something else important. Just have to keep that CF ready for a System Test crash.

I thought i was the only one, I recently bought a 2500 and upgraded to 1.21 right off the bat. I tried in vain to sync to Cubase with MTC, nothing.

Took it back and got an exchange, same thing but also observed that the transport controls would lock up as well.

Took it back to store were they tested both machines with protools. Result both MPC's would not sync to Protools with MTC but would with Midi clock.

The store has contacted Akai technnical support US who has replied that they have not seen or reported any cases of the current bug.

Pick up my new machine Monday, but now that I see more owners are experiancing this same bug it has to be OS thing. So it will be interesting to see what happens Monday as the store has orederd 2 new MPC's and will test instore.

I suspect MTC sync is simply broken in 1.21. Its just that not many people use that feature (inc Akai it seems  )

dont know much bought synching and midi but if tried using the mpc with ableton live experimenting with different vsti's for sounds sometimes its sounds ok sometimes its kinda slow but also if using 1 A or first 16 channels my fourth pad seems off like it is on the higher side of the keyboard on a higher note lets say no pun but ummm is it supposed to be like that ?

Yeah same for me. I think that there is a thread with this in already.

But for what its worth, I upgraded yesterday and lost the sync. I rex I will go back to 1.20 and keep the 1.21 OS around if I need it again.

You may also notice TC gets messed up.

Suprised Akai said that... if they really do look at these boards like eveyone says.

I've had tons of problems with Quant ever since upgrading to 1.21, but only with Midi notes. Internal sampler timing seems fine. Triggering Reason and external devices gets weired timing glitches. It'll record exactly as played, but when played back I get timing hiccups on 3rd beat of even bars. Not even closr to what was played.

I have OS 1.21 loaded.

I am currently using Nuendo 3 as my DAW with an RME 9652 soundcard w/ MIDI I/O. MTC sync works for me. I have the MPC as the master and Nuendo as the slave.

However, my MPC will not slave to MTC.

That could be the problem then, i was trying to slave it to Cubase.

I dont think Cubase will slave to the MPC

SX3 will (not sure about previous versions).

I couldn't get SX3 and MPC to sync no matter what configuration. I might give 1.21 another try though seeing as jahrome has has some luck.
