Will this turntable scratch for me.

Although I'm strictly Vestax PDX2000 myself, Fob makes a good point.

I started off with cheapo direct drives to learn how to mix. Then I wanted to scratch so had to save for Vestax a couple of years later. You want to scratch from the get go, so don't eff around. Get something decent.

U should try Lookin Into A Stanton T80 , i jus got that and its really nice cost me $200 .. it worth it for its price .

NO!!! dont get that table. Thats the one I started out on. Is okay just to scratch but the start and stop time because of the power of the motor is not good wich will effect your scratching if you dont do it just right. For a buck or two more you can get da numark ttx which has one of da strongest motors. Or like they said a used technic .`Also try looking into a cd turntable With the pitch lock you can use that to timestretch .

here's what you buy:
one / two used Technics1200mk2('s)
-will last for over 10 years (if properly maintained as in not throwing it down stairs and ish)
-has a strong motor. (1,5 kg/cm torque)
-S-shaped arm with good construction (less record wear than straight-arms and when needles are set up right and broken in they remain very skip ressistant)
-you can do shïtloads of mods on'em.

but if you want to scratch you just can't have a good turntable.
a good mixer is also something you need.
a new/used Vestax PMC06proA ( don't even think about the proT...the proT is shit, while the proA is the shizzle), PMC05 Pro2 / pro3, a Stanton SK1
-they have good faders
-can be found at a good price used
-will give you plenty of scratching pleasure
-thay are all compatible with the Eclectic Breaks' "Pro-X-Fade" which is perhaps the best contact-fader ever to be released.

these mixers won't give you the best sound quality you can imagine, but they are great for scratching. i myself own a Vesax 05 Pro2 and i absolutely love it! the only mixer i would trade it in for is an Ecler Hak 360 which is a topnotch scratchmixer with the most insane non-contact fader ever!

But there no use scratching with bad cartridges either.
The ones to go with here are Shure M44-7 or Stanton 500 AL II / 500 AL III
The shures are for those who demands nothing less than that there needle will never skip. a really great cartridge! i have a pair myself.
I've never used the 500 AL's but many great dj's swear by them.

so there you have it, have fun.

I've got a PMC05 Pro Mk 2 and Shure M 447's too.

Butter rugs are a nice addition as well seeing as you're breaking it down...

Oooh i dunnoa bout them, i tried one in store and it seemed cool.

Tried one at my mates after about 9 months of ownership and the pitch was all over the place and platter felt a bit strange.

There are better out there for the money.

Also, my mate has a pair of MK5G Technics and says he prefers mixing on both my STR8-150s and also his cousin's regular 1210s...
