Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By Mr. Messenger Sun Feb 08, 2004 6:02 am
yo my MPC2kxl is ****!!!!!!!

i seriously think it has a crazy bug cos its NOT functioning properly in several areas.

for the record, i got some "crazy error messges" (see the thread i made) and this shit has only started happening since then. and it only happens with this one particular beat that im working on. (which happens to be the one i was making when i got the error messages)

firstly, my bassline problem.....see "it just decides to cut off my bass short for no reason at all" thread.

and now the "vol" in step edit is directly effecting my attack and decay in the programs. note that the settings in the program dont actualy change BUT, for eg......if im in step edit and i have my horn play at full volume, my attack decay settings will play though as they are set in the programs. if i turn the volume down it will start to take away the attack and eventually mte the sound all together...even if the volume is at like 50.

im starting to think all these problems are related since i got the error messages in STEP EDIT and my bass duration/horn attack/horn decay problems are all to do with settings in STEP EDIT.

seriosuly this is **** me off i cant even make beats properly.

will reinstalling the OS do ANYTHING?

any other solutions?

i cant go on any longer like this....its **** with my head

thankyou in advance

peace

(ps. sorry if i shouldnt have made a new topic for this but i wanted it all to be in the one thread)

It could possibly be that the song you have loaded has corrupted data saved in one or some of the files directly.

Load a completely different song on a completely different disk and see if the same errors come up.

Try reloading the OS, get a fresh disk to download the OS. DO NOT use that disk with the corrupted data on it to load the OS.

See what happens..

thanks very much for the reply

all other songs work fine

i reinstaled the os and there is no change.

so if i can guess correctly this means i have to write down ALL the data (trims, volumes, positioning, params etc etc) of EVERYTHING and remake the song.

if this is what is required, i will do it. but this just happens to be my most intricate song yet......so while im doing it i will be fuming.

any other tips?

I've had to do that exact same thing with my Triton before when I left one of my disk a little to close to one of my speakers and it got corrupted and the song wouldn't play correctly and my triton was trippin whenever I loaded that ONE song in it. Luckily I had the song recorded already on my PC so I just recreated it exactly the way you are speaking of.. it was a pain and I haven't set any disks close to any speakers since then. haha

Don't use that disk or any electronic copy of ANY sound on that disk again so as to make sure you don't import that error into your machine again ya feel me..?

All fresh.. From scratch.. There's no other way that I know of....

By Mr. Messenger Sun Feb 08, 2004 9:33 am
ok well i have to import it once more so i can copy the detail for recreation

ALSO

are you SURE i can t copy sounds?

ive done so chopping of samples i dont want to have to go through my library and do all that shit again. there are way to many pieces and i probably wont be able to find them. wouldnt the corruption be more likely to be in the actual program or sequence and not in the wav file itself?.....cos it seems to be a problem with actual settings. for eg....after i got the problem, i imported a new sound and it DID effect this sound.

i REALLY would like to be able to simple copy all the details and cut and paste all my sounds onto another disk (ignoring the seq and prog). chopping everything up again would be MAJORLY ****

what do you think?

By Mr. Messenger Sun Feb 08, 2004 9:40 am
also....do you think my corruption is due to the speaker thing you had aswell. i ork about 3 meters from my speakers.

or

would it be because of those crazy error messages.

and

do you know WHY i got those error messges or is that just freak accident type shit

cheers again

I don't know why you got the errors. I do know that if you want to have a TOTALLY clean song you will HAVE to do everything over from scratch because the corrupted data can be in ANY file.

You can try loading only the sounds/samples and if that works then the fault must be with the APS, PGM or ALL.

After loading the sounds you can try loading the APS,ALL and PGM's one at a time and see how everythings roks before loading anything else. That way you see what is up with each file and as SOON as the error comes back it will have been the LAST file/disk you just loaded. You feel me.

Try the sounds first, then go with the PGM and ALL. I've had APS's go corrupt on me before also. Not many times but it has happened.

i was unable to isolate the problem since i need both both the program and the seq file to actually HEAR if the problem comes up

but i rebuilt it by copying the sounds as you suggesed and that seems to have fixed the problem.

so it must have been corruption in the pgm of seq file

thanks so much for youre help. without it i would have gone on for ages in the corrupted version trying to work out when i made a wrong setting

**** SHIT **** SHIT **** BULLSHIT CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the problem is not fixed.

now its doing the same thing (cutting off the bass note) but at a different place. ive noticed that although the place has changed it is still the same note in AUTOCHROMATIC ( -20) which cuts off. this is the only one which is set to NOTE OFF but the settings are definitely correct cos it only cuts off if i play a diffent sequence bforehand. if i play it from this sequence in the beggining it works fine.

man this is frustrating.

should i rebuild again and replace the bass sound?

i cant take much more of this **** hell.

I have no idea. Maybe the song is never meant to be.

I think the problem will automatically go away after you start yet another thread. Three is definitely not enough.

By Mr. Messenger Mon Feb 09, 2004 5:46 am
save me your **** sarcasm. it doesnt help

i was unsure if the problems were related thats why i put them in seperate threads.

By dyno Mon Feb 09, 2004 10:47 am
I'm goin' through the exact same thing man (check my last thread).. I mean, if u can't even trust your own sampler, then why even try savin'? I'm seriously considerin' goin' PC all the way, shit already **** me over a few times.
This time it corrupted both my main disk and my backup disk, so all the songs that are on it are affected. I lost about ten beats again.

It's just one of those days, I guess.

WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

**** knows how or why it worked but I FOUND THE SOLUTION.

simply changed the problem sample to another pad, gave the new pad the same parameters and replaced the note in step edit.

budda bing budda boom!

anyone who is having similar problems....TRY IT!!!!!

it might save you going through the headuck i went though.

peace out

ps. im still VERY thankful to everyone who offered help with this problem. thanks alot

I used to have a very similar problem, but only when I was using 16 levels. Is that how you played out the bass line?

By Mr. Messenger Mon Feb 09, 2004 6:08 pm
i used aurto chromatic

---------

let me just edit my last post and clarify that i had two problems. problem #1 was the bass.....this was actaully noy ONLY fixed by changing the pad. i had to have two copies of the same note. one set to mono and one to note off. i used themono one for the time when that note runs into a following note (which cuts it off through mute assign) and the note off one for the shorts stab. i have no idea why it wouldnt let me use note off and pley it into a nother note set to cut it off through mute assign. i just had to use the mono one. ...weird

problem 2 was the horn. that was fixed simply by changing the pad

hope this doesnt EVER happen to me....cos its worrying

hope all this shit helped somone out
