i think the bit rate is down to the converters, but i may be wrong. it would be cool to have though. extra effects? hmm nah, just better ones please.

I doubt he could rewrite the sampling engine itself to support different rates as well as the file structure for saving/loading. sure that's true, but not the same thing as true 12bit. 12 doesn't go into 16 and leave an integer, therefore it won't be accurate, it'll merely be an effect which gets close to the sound.
