drum sounds:what about the TOMS

i use many CD-roms with drum sounds,but on all the toms are "recorded" with the "snare " of the snare drum.......do you know drummers who pull of the snare when makin' a braek?so my question is:do you know somme CD-roms with the toms well recorded,with this little"ring" that make all the diference of the tom sound?BTW,bass drum is often recorded like that too.....!!!!!!!!

nice advice ,but the tom sounds i found on the web were not better than the ones i have.....sampling from record?Hum, hum......for just havin tom sounds,it seems to be quite hard no?

How do u use toms? I try and use them for fills or build ups. Is that the right use?

a "build up" is a roll or break to set a start for the beat or set variations

you could always layer a bit of snare tickle under your tom and get it to act to velocity so its slightly different with each hit.....

i try to do that but the result doesn't sounds "natural" that's why i'm lookin' for well recorded TOMS.......BTW tanx....

Has plenty of "free" downloads, try some of those LINN drums. Look in the MPC 1K, Forum and there is a link for free sounds in there, you can use them in the XL as they are .wav files. hope this helps.

Be careful using toms in your beats, though.
To me, when I hear a tom fill going on over the top of a beat, it automatically sounds like some 80s pop/soul dance hit, like Klymaxx or Midnight Star or something. Not always good.
