while doing some testing for os 3, i found an oddity, which also happen in os 1.07

basically i have a bass drum (tr909 type) sample which plays nicely from my computer, but differently in the mpc (even with FX, envellope and filter disabled).

it has a faster attack in the computer. and in the mpc there is a small but noticeable click at the end.

would be cool if someone can try (does not matter which os), the sample is here:

thanks

(to the moderators: i posted this in a new thread because it is not only about the third-party os.)

I downloaded it, played it in Quicktime, Windows Media Player, then loaded it into my 1k. I dont hear any clicks at all.

thanks for trying man.

the click at the end is tiny. make sure to use enough volume and decent speakers. the attack difference is more noticable though.

i have another better example. i'll post it tomorrow, i am far too tired now...

my setup is tight. i just didnt have the volume up enough to notice it with a fan running in the room. i can hear it now. it's very faint but audible.

i think i have a similar problem.
some of the pads (not all) play sounds from other pads very quietly at the end of the original pad-sample.
example: i have a crash on pad 3 and a hihat on pad 4, i play the crash and at the end you can hear the hihat sound very very quietly.
i couldn figure out when it happens and why.
i'm using os v2.1
so it is not a problem with the .wav sample but something with the os.

yep, what you are talking is slightly different. it has to do with the decay setting, and is specific to os 2.1

dunno. i believe there was other threads about it with more infos.

anyway, i did some more testings. on both 3.00 and 1.07 and there is exactly the same problem. it looks like the mpc automaticaly applies a strange envelope to all the samples, even in trim mode... and looks like this envelope actually starts before the beginning of the sample and ends before the end. (hence the attack lost and the click at the end). this kind of sucks...

here is how to reproduce it:

ghost envelope bug (2 examples):
Fist: downlaod the zip file ("testSamples.zip") containing two wav samples from:
http://technorambles.bulldoghome.com/

Example 1:
1 load sample "BD909ra_notTrimmed"
2 push [mode] + [pad6] -> trim window
3 push [F3 Z.in] many times to zoom max
4 set "St:" (start point) to "00040753"
5 push pad -> sample plays nicely
6 set "St:" (start point) to "00040783" (the exact beginning of the sample)
7 push pad (with Full Level on)
8 error : sample play but some of the attack is missing and I can hear a very tiny click at the end (not present in the original sample).
looks like there is an invisible envelope applied by the mpc.

Example 2:
ghost enveloppe bug:
1 load the same sample, but this time exactly trimmed to the beginning. "BD909ra_trimmed.wav"
2 assign "BD909ra_trimmed.wav" to a pad
3 pad settings: attack=0, decay=0, no filters
4 push pad (with Full Level on)
5 error: sample play but some of the attack is missing and I can hear a very tiny click at the end (not
present in the original sample).
looks like there is an invisible envelope applied by the mpc.

then i can submit it to the JJ (and maybe akai. hoping they actually read supports email although they never answer...)

thanks.
