Card reader for MPC 2000 XL questions ?

Hey just a few quick question about the card reader mod for the XL

1. I had a MPC1000 and boy that loaded fast will the MPC 2000 Xl do the same with a card read instead of crappy zips ?

2. Im from Australia and can only find USB readers and not the IDE type where can i score one from ?.

I jacked it from another site, so I didn't make it and don't have the original files... Can I still slow it down in a gif editor or something??
