big wows. a colour change and having a different os on it should make no difference, well unless your company's called Wakai.

It shouldn't. But

a) people think it does, and
b) shops try to make a profit out of a)

:D

Besides...the new black casing is an added value in my eyes

I thought the list price (suggested retail price) of the 1000 has always been about $999 US. Retailers could then sell it for practically whatever they want. If you can't walk into a retailer and pay a reasonable price, then go to another retailer using the previous price as a threshold for what you are willing to pay. After several tries, and no success getting the price you think is reasonable, you may want to consider buying something similar or consider a new hobby/profession. Professional tools (I think the 1000 is considered professional  ) doesn't necessarily have to be cheap.

....if something is in high demand, I would think companies can mass produce them, and sell them at reasonable prices.

If they are not in demand, they wouldn't produce as many..thus the price may have to be increased so they can make some sort of profit....

Just my two and a half cent...

not my taste, but i guess it's worth the price. is it hand made, or mass produced in third world countries? lol, j/k fam each to their own.

'expensive-because-of-a-name-or-because-of-how-many-diamonds-are-on-it' watches have never been my thing. if it's hand crafted precision watches like patek philippe, then i think the price is worth it. my 0.02c
