PC to MPC2000 Sample Transfer: Problem Solved For Noobs

Aight! Lets get this issue resolved.

I use the MPC2000 Classic and it's still HOT as hell.

This might help others:

I have an external scsi zip attached to the MPC2000 & have also installed an IDE zip in my music PC, which enables me to transfer wav/snd samples directly from PC to MPC2000 & vice versa.

To make life easier with the MPC2000 I also us a software called 'MPC Editor' on my PC.

MPC Editor allows me to browse my HUGE PC sample library in real-time & throw my selected samples onto the on-screen MPC editor pads. Once my program is finished and I have selected what sounds go on which pads then all I have to do is to save that program in mpc2000 format then load it into the mpc2000 via zip disk. (Very quick process)

JOB DONE!

Now you too can use your PC .wav samples on your oldskool MPC2000

(please note: that MPC Editor also works with mpc2000xl & mpc3000)

IDE Zip drives are VERY cheap on ebay (uk price approx £5 inc. delivery!)

Or,and i'm just thinking off the top of my head here,you could always buy a parallel/scsi or usb zip for the computer and transfer files that way.Maybe even just transfer them to zip without Mpc Editor and just load what sounds you want onto the mpc.

It only took a week to put this into action as I was so determined to make my MPC2000 part of my studio set-up for good.

After I installed an IDE ZIP in my PC the next step was to find software to make the programs & luckly I found the above link

I really hope this post helps you guys as there are too many dishartened MPC2000 users around the globe

Stryke you could do that but trust me this program is a god send especially if you have loads of samples on your PC & the most amazing thing is that you can create a full program (all 4 banks - 64 sounds) in under a minute! & save it onto your PC for future beats or convert it into xl or 3k format

Try the demo version first & see how it goes, no harm in that bro.

No doubt,i wasn't knocking Mpc Editor.Alot of people here use it and it's a great program i just use what i have to get the job done.

actually it was posted about a month ago. i was asking some question about converting sounds ETC and they told me to use that program.

im not hatin on the thread, but it has been mentioned before.

And here I am using MPC editor for all these years and not knowing this wonderful info, jk.


It's been around and making peoples lives easier for years now.

well actually i knew about the mpc editor, it was figuring out how to get the files from my comp to the mpc classic cause the cd-rom i have you need to partion akai something or other and its too complicated for me to figure out. so mostly i was referring to the 2 zip disk drives. Yeah i know dumb but thats how i roll.

As long as it helps at least one MPC classic user thats good enough for me

I'm sure MPC editor has been mentioned before (I would be surprised if it hadn't) but I thought I would highlight the easiest method for transferring files from PC to MPC


So I hope no one else gets rid of their 2K because of file transfer problems
