Can i install a 750mb internal Zip Drive in a 2000?

Sometimes u really need to do some research, i saw some iinternal 750 zip drives, and was wondering if it was compatible with the 2000? or is it just 100 and 250's zip drives?, cos i got some 750's and that alot more storage space than 100's
so let me know

It was reported that the IDE version should work and theoretically could be faster than the smaller ones. Keep in mind that it can't write to 100MB disks.

On the other hand, I don't know why anyone would install a zip drive anymore other than to read data off old disks. A card reader is better in almost every way. smaller, bigger storage, more durable, cheap, many new computers have built in readers, not going out of production, etc. I made the change, copied all the data off my zips and haven't touched them since.

well i have an external zip drive for the 100's , i just wanted to be able to store as much sounds as possible to the 750's

hey, u in dekalb?, i'm in dekalb, just looking for other mpc owners to help me out from time to time, i got mine like in april and have been tryin everything but need someone who knows about these things

The 2000 classic has no internal ide connector so you will not be able to install an internal 750 ide zip just like that (unless you do serious hardware mods on your mpc motherboard). So the simple answer is NO.

No, there is NO IDE/Atapi connector on the 2k motherboard for the IDE/Atapi zip drive.

So, No.

IDE/Atapi connector CAN be found on the 2kxl motherboard though.


For simplicity sake, 2k, you are stuck with ext SCSI.

My bad, when I see 2000, I automatically think XL unless I see the word classic. Sorry about that. I am not sure they ever made a scsi 750, but definately 250s. I used one for a few years.

I used to go to school in DeKalb a few years ago. Go out there every now and then to party (might possibly swing by this Friday). There was a guy I knew out there with a 2000 but he just moved to the city. I'm sure there must be others, but not too many college kids can afford gear
